Hi Chantea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business in 2018 under a different name and I rebranded the following year to appeal more to my target audience. I was scared and didn’t know if I was going down the right path but God soon confirmed it when I had my first 10 clients in a course I hosted to write an e-book. I haven’t looked back since. I want to be the learning curve for aspiring authors who write nonfiction and want to self-publish their books. I want to give them what no one would give me when I wanted to write my book. It took me seven years but I wouldn’t trade those lessons for anything. Now, I host workshops, e-courses, book camps and offer digital resources to give authors the tools they need to be successful! Whether you’re writing a book because it’s on your bucket list or you want to build a business with it, I’m your first stop! My team and I are ready to help you get the book out of your head and into your hands.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had to narrow down my target audience and be comfortable with not serving everyone! I’m always in a training or reading the latest news in the publishing industry. There is so much to learn and it can be overwhelming. I had to invest in business coaching to help me learn how to build a sustainable and successful business. I’ve made mistakes and then there were some authors I wanted to help but couldn’t. I had to change my mindset and not be afraid to invest and take risks.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m the proud owner of Relentless Publishing House. We help aspiring authors who write nonfiction to self-publish their books including children’s books. We also create conference event booklets/magazines. All of our authors retain 100% of their royalties. Our packages include free author copies and marketing support. We have published almost 200 books! We created Perry’s Jr. Book Club, a writing program for children ages 5-18. In this five-week course, junior authors learn how to write a children’s book. At the completion, junior authors will have written their own children’s book and we produce it for them. The books are printed but not published. They are able to sell them to the public.
We host the Get Your Write On 30-Day Book Camp to help authors get the book out of their heads and into their hands. It is a group coaching service that also includes writing sessions. In these writing sessions, authors can get feedback on writing samples, develop their outlines, ask writing questions and use this time to just write.
