Community Highlights: Meet Skip Blankley of Nobox Creatives and Juxt Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skip Blankley.

Hi Skip, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Skip Blankley and I have been working in marketing and media production as a business owner of nobox creatives and Juxt Media for over 10 years now. I have always enjoyed sales, marketing, and media production and these two companies allow me to explore those worlds on a daily basis.

I have alway been an entrepreneur at heart and could not see myself working for anyone other than myself. I have always said that you will learn more about yourself than you will about business when setting out to be an entrepreneur and I love that aspect of business.

The personal and professional growth that I would argue is required for success as a business owner is what I love the most about it all.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my wife, young son, good friends and family. I love to mountain bike, kayak, trail run, hike, play soccer and pretty much anything else that gets me outside. The family and I travel every chance we get and love to explore new areas and even find adventures in our own backyard here in Georgia.

I also very much enjoy playing and recording music. I have been playing drums and guitar for over 20 years and very much enjoy all things music.

In the last few years I have been working with my partners to build the School For Startups and School For Freelancers which are passion projects that allow me to take what I have learned over the years in business and teach it to up and coming or even established freelancers and small business owners. It is so much fun to see them grow and build their dream careers as entrepreneurs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Never is. I have dealt with all of the bad types of clients, I have fallen flat on my face trying to build my businesses multiple times. I personally struggle with self-doubt and occasionally wrestle with depression, but I keep moving forward. As I mentioned previously, you will learn more about yourself than you ever will about business if you set out on your own and that certainly comes with its challenges.

When you attach your self worth and your very identity to your business, you then ride the highs as well as the lows with your business. Not until the last few years have I learned to detach myself from my businesses in a way that allows me to maintain a heathy personal life even when the going gets tough with work. I still fight it from time to time, but it is much easier now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nobox Creatives and Juxt Media?
Nobox Creatives builds websites and manages online marketing campaigns. We specialize in SEO and content marketing, and PPC. We have built websites for just about any industry out there and have learned a ton about each of them in the process. We now take that experience and apply it to all of our clients to help them achieve their digital marketing goals.

Juxt Media uses beautifully produced videos/films to tell stories and drive awareness for businesses and brands. We love making fun and creative films and using them to drive brand awareness for our clients. We also use our lead generation and marketing experience to use those videos to get our clients the customers they are after.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Because content creation is so easy now (ChatGPT for content and iPhones for videos as just a couple examples) anyone and everyone will be or is already creating content. That is a lot of noise so it will become increasingly important to develop strategies to rise above the noise.

I think the biggest winners in business in the next 5-10 are going to be those that are creating products or services that people actually want and need, and tell their story in a meaningful, non gimmicky kind of way as to avoid being a part of the noise.

I think/hope that influencer marketing corrects course and people start paying more attention to brands that are ACTUALLY making the world a better place and not just throwing it up on the homepage of their website.
