Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Johnson.
Hi Sasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as a little girl born in Montgomery, Alabama, with a heart full of dreams. I remember having those dreams, but over the years, slowly, I felt that I was inadequate and did not hold the ability to reach the dreams that my little heart desired. As my life was indulged with pain, trauma, and abuse from a spouse, I had no choice but to gain some resilience and be the best mother I could be for my two sons. Over the years, I noticed friends and close family members who had a mental illness, and I had to understand why this was happening. First, I started a nonprofit organization in 2014 called Sister’s 2nd Chance, which focused on supporting single mothers who had experienced trauma and pain. Then, in 2018, I started my own mental health private practice. Today, both have blossomed into successful businesses providing essential community services. So, now this little girl that didn’t believe in herself is a licensed professional counselor, CEO, and prospective Ph.D. graduate.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was definitely not a smooth road. As mentioned before, I was a single mother, working two jobs most often while attending school. I had no assistance from their father at all. I will say that I did have supportive parents that helped with my sons. The crazy thing is my sons became motivated to give them nothing but the best, be an example and show them that they can and will do anything they are willing to work for.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Inside and Out Consulting?
Inside and Out Consulting provides mental health services, both in-person and virtual. We have recently gained a location in Hiram, GA, and the office there will open up in Mid-February 2023. We specialize in treating individuals that have experienced trauma and relationship challenges, but this does not limit our ability to treat consumers suffering from depression, anxiety, and many other mental illnesses. Our ability to make our clients feel free and comfortable and provide a judgment-free zone sets us apart. We are proud of the quality treatment we provide to our clients and seeing their faces when they meet their treatment goals. Our organization’s CEO focuses on providing her own authored books, journals, guided meditation albums, podcasts, and videos to help reach clients from different prospectives.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The industry of mental health is going to keep growing. I feel like people are just starting to realize how real it is. Last year, I had to create a waiting list due to the need. Now, our team has grown so that we can provide services to more individuals in the community.
