Check Out Jason Flakes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Flakes. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jason Flakes is a skilled designer and photographer hailing from Washington D.C. With a background honed at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, he went on to establish Nomoi Design – a successful multi-media and industrial design firm. The company focuses on creating ergonomic and eco-friendly products while capturing the beauty of LEED-certified architecture through green methods. Nomoi Design has a diverse client base, having designed high-performance circuit breakers for Mitsubishi Electric and ergonomic furniture for clients such as the DC Police Department.

As an architectural photographer, Jason has traveled the world to document hotels, buildings, and other structures through time-lapses, virtual tours, and HDR stills. His work has been showcased in Contract Magazines and Contract Masonry Association of California and Nevada, earning him recognition including the “I, Photographer” award from Popular Photography magazine in 2012. Jason was also selected to attend the Boisbuchet Products of Design Program in France, where he had the opportunity to study with renowned designers and further his efforts in promoting environmental sustainability through design.

Jason’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2008 when he was laid off and decided to start his own business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Rebranding, moving to a new location during a pandemic, and learning everything from scratch were all significant challenges that impacted my business. Additionally, I had to learn everything from scratch.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Jason is an award-winning filmmaker and social architect who seeks to improve people’s lives through storytelling and design. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for social awareness, he leverages various media platforms to bring authentic, impactful stories to life. Jason’s human-centered design philosophy, combined with his expertise in research and multimedia, helps him address social issues and empower individuals. Jason is also known for his work as a business coach and life design expert. He believes that success in both personal and professional life can be achieved through finding harmony between work and rest. Jason calls this approach the “Hustle Equation.” By striking a balance between work and rest, individuals can provide value to others and prioritize their own well-being.

Any big plans?
I eagerly look forward to the opportunity to engage in further public speaking events and to have a role in creating several documentaries.

Also a book in the near future.
