Meet Corey Thomas

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Corey Thomas. Corey was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Akeem Reed.

Hi Corey, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started from humble beginnings in a small town south Atlanta in McDonough Georgia. I grew up with my Grandfather(James Brown) working in the garden and my Grandmother(Ruby Brown)cooking hot meals Three times a day . I had know idea that the countless times I watched my Grandmother would 20 years later be the very inspiration that drives not only my career but also my thriving Catering business. I have been cooking since I was 11 years old, from making BBQ sauce with my dad (George Thomas ) to piecing together survival meals because we weren’t as fortunate as others to have a pantry full of groceries. I worked my first job at McDonald’s and hated it and vowed that I would never cook for anyone ever again in my life. Be careful what you say you wont do because it could be the very thing that God gifts you to do. I decided that I would work in corporate America and the inability to be happy and thrive in a office setting while my the love for food and cooking bubbled in my gut, was ultimately the driving force that jumped started my culinary journey. I took a chance on me and went to culinary school in 2006 with the support of my parents (George and Delores Thomas ) it was tough trying to go to school, work, and raise a 1 year old son. I persevered through and graduated in 2007 with mighty expectations of myself to succeed. I wanted to put myself on the fast track and learn as much as I could as fast as I could. I did not have much experience but wanted to start catering to share and perfect my skills. In 2008 I started my catering business my focus was amazing customer service paired with quality food. God has blessed my hands to be very successful in this business sector and is continuing to propel me forward daily. I went from making a couple of hundred dollars to now booking events with no budget caps. I have had the opportunity to cater for some A-List events, Nfl football teams, meet celebrities, and participate any many charity events. My food has had the opportunity to travel to places that I only dreamed of going. I will continue to learn, create, and bless others with the gift God gave me in the food.

Please tell us more about your practice.
