Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiona Sharpe.
Hi Kiona, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I originated my business on doing my own hair. Growing up my mother never knew how to do hair because she wanted all boys. As a little girl growing up in a stereotypical black community, I always felt left out because the other little girls would have new hair every week. I wanted a change. I wanted to be confident in who I was as a young girl. Years later I ventured out and ended up with luxury extensions of Atlanta.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am had never been easy and I’m not sure it ever will be. Being a black hair stylist with not much of a background didn’t give me much of a platform to showcase my work. The support system I’ve built, I worked very hard for. Not everybody will support you but being a genuine person and supporting other people will definitely get you somewhere on this road

I am an Atlanta-based hairstylist/ loc stylist. I specialize in black hair care and styling. I am known for my work with hair and locs and my %100 raw talent. I am most proud that I finally legally own my business. I am set apart from others because I care, I don’t do what I think looks good I do what I know is good for your hair and growth stimulation while also keeping your crown healthy.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people may find it surprising that I started doing this when I was only 12 years old.
