Meet Antwaun Snipe of Snipe Life Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antwaun Snipe.

Hi Antwaun, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started on a small island in Charleston, SC. Yes, I am definitely Gullah Geechee to the fullest! My grandfather is a local Pastor on James Island where his church is located. Following closely behind my grandfather as he served, I realized early on that I was born to help others, just as he was. My Mother birthed me at a very young age so my grandparents stepped in to assist her with raising me. Back home we say, “it takes a village to raise a child,” and still to this day I thank God for the village he gave me. My grandparents’ wisdom along with my Mother’s strength and endless tenacity made me the man I am. Growing up, I experienced personal battles and trials but they simply showed me how strong I truly was. After high school, I decided to put that strength to the test by joining the United States Airforce. After serving on Active Duty for eight years, I decided to hang up my uniform and pursue a different path, which led me to where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road? Absolutely not. I’ve had a few obstacles. From feeling fatherless at an early age to being away from my family during my military career, being an active duty airman and the stresses that come along with that, to leaving the military totally afraid and feeling unprepared. I definitely struggled but most importantly… I overcame.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Names are important and our name in itself has a meaning. Snipe is my last name but it’s more to it than that. Snipers are known for hitting targets, even from incredibly long distances. I want all of our clients to know that regardless of how near or far their goals may seem, they’re obtainable and we’re here to assist. We don’t miss and we’ll do everything in our power to ensure they don’t either. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being persistent.

Snipe Life Fitness is a brand that not only focuses on your physical health but your mental health as well. We offer personal and group physical training, virtual and in-person. Corporate wellness training is available to organizations to boost employee morale and possibly decrease turnover rates. With that service, we provide resilience training to employment teams. That training touches on mindfulness, gratefulness, healthy communication, problem-solving, identifying personal values and strengths, and how to apply those not only in the work area but throughout their daily lives. We also offer meal plans and meal-prep options. The cooking comes from the Gullah Geechee in me, of course. We love to eat! Snipe Life Fitness specializes in regulating the mind, sculpting the body, and feeding the soul. It’s all about helping others honestly.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I lost one of my childhood friends due to Covid. He was 27 years old. I learned to cherish life and the ones I love even more. I’m sure we all have. We literally were at a point where all we had was ourselves, our personal health and our personal wellness. There were some people feeling crazy just being alone, and isolated. Having no one around drove them crazy. For some, they were taunted by their own thoughts. When you’re stripped of the day-to-day distractions you’re forced to deal with the man in the mirror. Covid taught me to love myself and not love any other thing more. It taught me to make sure I was okay with Antwaun. It taught me self-care.
