Rising Stars: Meet Jim Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim Davis. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jim started in the window coverings industry in 1996 and started his design firm in 2015 and has seen great success which can be attributed to his eye for design and impeccable standards. As a testament to the quality of product and service, his business has grown over the years purely through word of mouth and referrals. Their reputation in the community and online reviews are consistently stellar, as no project is complete until they are up to Jim’s pristine standards.

The business heritage can be traced back and attributed to his mother, who with equal zeal and ambition set out to establish herself in the space with Blinds Unlimited. The quality of service that runs in the family business is unparalleled not only in service and the stunning results of their installations but the zealous passion for the creative process that goes behind each and every install.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the scariest things you will ever do is start your own company. We have been blessed to have had it grow every year over the past. I equate that to ensuring that I learn every day. I take every failure or setback as a way to learn and grow. If everything was perfect all the time, there would be no room to grow. While the journey has not been easy and doesn’t get easier, it’s worth it. The truth is, once you perfect something, it’s time to move onto the next thing that needs work, and there is always something else.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love being in the design world. Having a passion for design for as far back as I could remember, my career challenges me every day to grow and learn. The world of art, fashion and design all go hand and hand, and they are forever evolving. What I love about my line of work is being able to create timeless looks that fit in with the trends and timelessness of the design work. Every home we go into is different and every home has its unique set of challenges that call for our help.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social media is a great source for finding inspiration. My recommendation for anyone wanting to go into the design field is to find a way to set yourself apart. The window coverings industry has been around for a long time but there are very few businesses that operates from a design standpoint like we do. Constantly educating yourself on how to improve is the only way to make it! There are so many tools and networking groups to help in the design world from conferences, show-homes, designer network groups, window treatment affiliations, Instagram, TV, and many more.
