Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Scott.
Hi Yolanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Atlanta from New York City after I completed residency to pursue an Interventional Spine fellowship. During that time, I decided to become certified in the therapeutic use of Botox(tm) to treat Migraines. That patient population was always my favorite to treat because they were relieved of their chronic migraines which made a drastic difference in their life. I decided that their joy was something that I wanted to experience full time, and delved into the cosmetic use of Botox, and other neurotoxins, which quickly led me to learn more about fillers, regenerative medicine, and all things aesthetics. These were all tools that I used in the therapeutic realm of pain management, but I was excited to now use it cosmetically.
Concurrently I was overcoming my own insecurities with childhood acne and the scarring which was heightened after I had my third child. I tried microneedling, platelet-rich plasma, IV hydration, peels and a complete change in my diet, which all helped even out my skin texture and renew my own confidence.
I enjoyed the aesthetic side of medicine and I saw what it did for my own life, and decided that this was the career path that would give me the most joy.
I decided that I was ready to transition out of traditional medicine and work in aesthetic medicine full-time. I began the process of creating Skin Suite, which I envisioned to be a safe, luxurious space where clients, my staff, and I can listen and learn from each other to create a comprehensive regimen to reach their personal goals. I truly approach this business as a merger between medicine and aesthetics because Ive make sure that all products and services performed here have been backed by extensive research, that they are effective, and safe for all skin types.
Aesthetics is growing exponentially, and I am grateful to be a part of this community. My intention is to leave my mark within this medical industry while also pushing the needle forward.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the hardest part of this process is making the decision to trust yourself. I was always amazed by entrepreneurs because at some point in their life, they decided that they were no longer fulfilled with walking on someone else’s path and they were going to take a leap and create their own path.
Now that I am amongst the people that I admire, I’ve quickly learned that the choices that I’ve made for my business are always the right decision, always. That doesn’t mean that I am never wrong, but I’ve learned that the mistakes that I’ve made were only mistakes because of hind-site.
My business is young so everything is a lesson that will train me to be a better businesswoman as well as practitioner.
As you know, we’re big fans of Skin Suite Medical Aesthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Skin Suite is an aesthetic boutique located in Brookhaven Ga that caters to all skin types and addresses various skin concerns, such as mature skin, acneic skin, scarring whether it’s from acne, stretch marks, or surgical scars. We also address female rejuvenation and provide IV hydration and mesotherapy for targeted fat dissolution.
We approach each client’s concerns from two angles, an aesthetic nurse and I collaborate with the client to ensure that we help them reach their individual goals in an effective time frame.
I like to think of my brand as quiet luxury. My space has a very specific appeal that I hope others can appreciate; I wanted it to feel classic and warm and intimate, but I also wanted those who walk through my door to know that every procedure, and every product was well thought out with them in mind,
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am so excited to collaborate with other like-minded individuals in the community. Aesthetics is an industry that can blend with several specialties. I’m also a physician and I love speaking from that perspective as well. I can be reached via email if someone would like to discuss collaboration with myself or Skin Suite.
