Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Williams.
Hi Sean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had an affinity for the creative side of things; art, music, and photography. IQue Media Group started as DUB Entertainment in 2009, where I managed different artists and models. In doing so, I always had to outsource photoshoots, videos, graphics, websites, etc. I got tired of doing so, so I figured I was intelligent and creative enough to do it myself. I’m a quick study, so I did not take long to master everything. Soon, I was getting calls from various artists, managers, and executives to do for others what I was doing for myself. That led me to eventually do photography for ATL Pics and All The Parties, shooting Atlanta nightlife. You can imagine the networking and connection that grew from that, which took off to the point that I found myself working with various celebrities, events, fortune 500 companies, weddings, you name it. With my knowledge, background, and new skills, I realized this could be a lucrative business. So I partnered up with my best friend, and IQue Media Group was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has been far from smooth. It seemed like the world couldn’t get any better and that everything that could go right was going right. That was until my best friend, who helped get me started on this journey, was killed right before me by APD, shot 15 times… That shook me to my core because we were tight, and I didn’t recover. A month later, all of my equipment was stolen, lost deals and contracts. I couldn’t get through the same doors that were once easy to walk through or sit at the same table with the decision-makers I once did. So I had to pivot. I got into corporate America and eventually worked my way up to become the global marketing manager of a billion-dollar business. But my passion for entrepreneurship wouldn’t allow me to stay in that space. And after ten years, I walked away to focus solely on IQue Media Group. However, all of those experiences help shape how I move to date. The road I traveled has given me knowledge that sets me apart from those operating in the same space.
We’ve been impressed with IQue Media Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
First would like people to know that I am a man of many hats and talents. I am a husband and father of four boys and a coach on the high school and youth levels. I am a serial cigar and golf lover and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. I have a non-profit where I mentor young men. And I am a business owner.
I am the owner of IQue Media Group. We are a full-service creative Agency dedicated to our clients’ creative, planning & marketing needs. Founded in 2009, out of an obsession with the digital media world and bringing visions to fruition, our desire to grow brands has been our consummate aim. We’ve since grown into a creatively driven, technologically savvy, one-stop-shop, production-house-meets-agency focused on making stuff the internet and people love. The services that we specialize in are photography, graphic design, video production, web design, branding, and marketing strategy. We do it all!!
However, I am probably most known for the sports marketing and branding side of my business. That is where I am most passionate. That may be partly due to my being a former athlete that played at a high level. I’ve taken my experience as a player, coach, and marketing/branding executive and created a service that separates me and my company from many of those who do what we do. I am proud to say that IQue Media Group now services most of the schools (middle and high schools) in South Fulton, and we have expanded into Clayton County Schools, Douglas County Schools, and Atlanta Public School Systems. We bring an experience and quality of work unrivaled by others.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
It’s interesting the things you carry over from your young to adult years. My core values, which matter most to me, are my 4 F’s: faith, family, finance, and future. I have always stood on these values as they have shaped my integrity, dependability, honesty, courage, respect, and financial security. I have and continue to exemplify all of these in my personal and professional life.
