Today we’d like to introduce you to David Haynes II.
Hi David, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
How I got started is kind of the mantra of how I live my life. Anything I want to do, I find a way to do it and then do it. I know all things are possible with God so I stopped, making excuses and went after what I wanted.
I was already a published author/ writer before I began making movies. I wanted to do it full-time so I stopped rationalizing reasons as to why I couldn’t and found a way to do it, started investing in myself (film equipment, business, knowledge), and here I am.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is never a smooth road to fulfilling your dreams. There are plenty of struggles and obstacles you have to overcome such as not having enough working capital, trying to figure out how you are going to make a project happen after the client didn’t properly forecast the budget.
But the biggest struggle and obstacle I have had to overcome has been ME…. breaking past the limitations that I have placed on myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create original content marketed for film, television, actors and corporate under the umbrella of my production company EtHESS PrODUCTIONS.
DaVIIDIC FiLMS works in narrative films/ televisions. ThE ReEL DeAL StUDIOS focus’ on demo reels for actors and InGENIIOUS deals with content for our corporate clients.
I specialize in creating original stories and content to evoke an amalgamation of thought and emotion.
I am most proud of the promise that I am made to myself to accomplish and live out my dream.
What sets me apart from others, is that I AM THE BEST at what I do. I promise you that there is no one living dead or alive that can do what I do. This may come off as being arrogant but it is more confidence than anything.
I strongly believe if you do not believe you are the best at what you are doing, then you might as well quit and pursue something else. The world may or may not have been exposed or recognized THE GREATNESS that GOD PUT INSIDE OF YOU, yet. But this is something you already have to understand before anything, I AM THE BEST.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
In this industry, it is all about who you know. If you are always looking to get paid monetarily, you can miss out on a great opportunity to meet a directors, producers, etc., that can help them get to where you are trying to go.
I have come on a myriad of sets that didn’t pay what I usually charge; sometimes I worked for networking, not for free but to network with other people. Based on my attitude and how I performed on that project I was constantly recommended by that producer for any project that that production company had.
In terms of finding a mentor. You are the best mentor you can have; if you are not afraid to fail and LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES you made.
