Rising Stars: Meet Omega Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omega Edwards.

Hi Omega, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Lawrence Edwards also known as “Omega” from North Saint Louis, Missouri. In 2016 I landed a background role as a Ravager on Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 which was filmed in Peachtree, GA. After that role, I met young independent filmmakers that inspired me to create my own project named “Street Runners” starring myself, Benzino, and Christian Middleton. Street Runners won the Rick Conway Award in the Kansas City International Film Festival in 2019 establishing myself as an award-winning filmmaker at the age of 29. After, that I began working on my music career. With the support and influences of Benzino, Zedzilla, and Slo Down from The St.Lunatics I was able to create a major buzz with my debut single “ On Me”. On Me generated 10k views on YouTube grabbing the attention of many but Goldtoes CEO of (GT digital) and partner of famous record label EMPIRE was more impressed with my album “Real N*gga Poetry” which landed me a contract deal with Empire distribution. Now my music is licensed by Empire and streaming on all platforms. After the completion of my album, I jumped back into the film industry after touring with “Zeus Rebel Waters and Murphy Lee in Denver, Colorado. The Best Day Of Your Life was my next big independent project as I got to co-star with Benzino, Kyle Ament, and comedian Mike Samp. The film won awards at the Kansas City International Film Festival, Downtown LA, and placement in The Martha Vineyard Film Festival. My soul mission is to inspire and motivate the next generation of youth who comes from tough backgrounds like myself to become more than a statistic. I want them to become Greatness!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In this industry smooth roads are hard to come by so just like most people it was a struggle getting people to take me serious as an artist/filmmaker because the market is flooded with them which creates a lot of competition. My biggest struggle was trying to get others to support me. No matter how much time and money went into my production I was always overlooked or skipped. It was very frustrating to me because popularity is what people care about not talent. I overcame that part by creating my own popularity with people are just like me…underdogs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an award-winning independent filmmaker/Actor/Producer/Artist. I am known for my character (Kent Jordon) on award-winning series “Street Runners”. My proudest accomplishments so far was signing my distribution deal with Empire and receiving a letter of intent from Maverick Movies. It was a lot of hard work that finally paid off.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
As the old saying goes “The greater the risk, the greater the reward.” I lived my entire life taking risks because the way I see it is this I don’t want to wonder what if. I want to know I died giving my all in this life even if it was too risky. I am most certainly a Risk-taker.
