We’re so pumped about our conversation with Nicole Ware Spencer. Nicole is a Holistic Clinical Psychologist & Yoga Therapist and is also a content partner. Content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work that we do, sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this. Check out our conversation with Nicole below.
Hi Nicole, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I am a clinical psychologist + yoga therapist who provides comprehensive and integrative approaches so that we can flourish in mind, body, and spirit. I offer yoga, therapy (Yoga + Talk, individual and couples), coaching, retreats, and sustainable products to rejuvenate health and wellness.
I founded Asili Wellness, a health and wellness space where we celebrate Women of Color and naturally nurture mind, body, and spirit. Asili Wellness offers holistic therapeutic services such as yoga, talk therapy, health and wellness coaching, and retreats. We also provide sustainable home and body care products to nurture multicultural women’s health and wellness. Through our holistic therapeutic services and sustainable products, we create experiences where millennial multicultural women are supported in thought, feeling, and being.
What small things can we do daily to take care of ourselves holistically?
We can take one minute to focus on our breath in the morning, midday, and evening. A few moments of intentional breathing and stillness will do wonders for the mind, body, and spirit. The beauty of this practice is that it can be done anywhere and with or without eyes closed.
What do you do to take care of your health and wellness?
To take care of my health and wellness, I daily engage in the following practices:
1. Going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time
2. Thirty minutes of movement (walking, yoga, I don’t discriminate)
3. Fifteen minutes of meditation (no music, simply focusing on my breath)
4. Prayer and devotions
5. Spending time with a loved one (relaxing with hubby, cuddling with a dog, cracking up with a girlfriend, chatting with my mom, or hanging out with myself and a book)
6. Reflecting on my blessings
7. Extending self-compassion when I don’t engage in a resiliency practice for whatever reason
There are a few more practices that I employ. However, these primary practices are my non-negotiables, and I try to engage them whether traveling or at home.
What is unique about Asili Wellness?
Asili Wellness is a health and wellness brand that creates experiences where millennial multicultural women are supported in thought, feeling, and being. At Asili Wellness, we shift the narrative that yoga and meditation are for others. Wellness is for everyone and does not discriminate.
We serve millennial Women of Color seeking a safe space where they can safely work through and recover from the negative impacts of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Some need help juggling their career, romantic relationship, and family demands. Others daily feel empty, stressed, highly emotional, or burned out. Overall, they are having difficulty managing their health and happiness.
At Asili Wellness, we celebrate who we are and experience holistic therapeutic services that enhance, transform, and nourish our well-being. Asili Wellness is a health and wellness space created for us to nurture our mental, physical, and spiritual health naturally.
Asili Wellness refills the cup of each customer and client we serve. From yoga, therapy, and coaching to our retreats and sustainable products, we offer holistic services to rejuvenate health and wellness. We aim to aid Women of Color in creating happiness and enhancing their ability to promote health, prevent disease, encourage self-care, and foster healing.
Where do you see Asili Wellness headed in the next 2-5 years?
Asili Wellness desires to be at the forefront of health and wellness and expand its natural, sustainable, and therapeutic services. I aim for Asili Wellness to exemplify holistic living and offer spaces where multicultural women can thrive! In the next 2-5 years, I see Asili Wellness offering Asili Stays.
Asili Wellness Stays will be properties where people can stay and engage in sustainable tourism and travel to countries while ensuring communities and the environment thrive as much as possible.
Asili Stays will be in locations outside the United States that are safe for solo multicultural female travelers.
