Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyera Perry.
Hi Kyera, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2016, I was teaching elementary school in Atlanta Public schools and I felt God pulling me in a different direction, however, I could not fathom quitting teaching when I had prepared to become an Educator since the age of 13. I received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and my M.Ed. from Howard University through a five years program, so it was a hard pill to swallow to say the least.
When I began receiving confirmation to pursue a career in real estate, I was even more discouraged. I knew I eventually wanted to be an entrepreneur, but how could I be successful in sales? I really did not think it was possible.
I was going to my meeting with my Principal to renew my contract for teaching, and I told her I did not want to renew. To my surprise, she congratulated me and encouraged me to step out on faith, so from there I decided to try it out.
I went and took the real estate classes and I passed the course. When it came time for the state exam, I was sure I had failed. I told God that if I didn’t pass, then real estate must not be for me…THEN I PASSED.
I wasn’t ready to accept this new journey until 2017. I interviewed with several brokerages and Keller Williams stood out to me. My team leader was truly interested in learning about me and my goals and there was such a rich culture. The values of Keller Williams are also God, Family, then Business. Keller Williams is also really big on serving the community which I am also very passionate about and I made the decision to join.
Then a few months later, my best friend was interested in purchasing her first home and wanted to use me to be her Realtor. Things went pretty smoothly and this first transaction gave me the confidence that I could do this.
Then things took another turn which I felt was for the worse. I had depleted my savings and had no idea how I could live off of one sale. I took a class at Keller Williams called Ignite which taught me how to share my business with people I knew. I started to have a few people reach out to me. I started to make phone calls, Facebook messages, and send business cards in the mail to let people know I was an agent. My wonderful mentor who is my dear friend to this day also helped me tremendously during this time and kept me encouraged.
It finally clicked that I had to change my mindset to be successful in this business. I took another class called BOLD that Keller Williams offers as well and that’s when it really hit me that I could do this!
In 2018, my career started to take off. Year over a year my sales began to increase. In 2018, I received my first accolade, the Rising Star award. In my market center, I started to get amazing feedback from my clients and they began to refer their friends and family to me.
With a passion for education, I began host a Homebuying Seminar called the Real Estate Wine Down that paired wine and real estate that I became known for. I still host several events throughout the year which is also attributed to the success of my business.
I slowly made it to the Top 20% of Producers then the Top 15%. In 2022, I made it to the Top 5% of Producers. To date, I have served over 100 families and sold over $31 million in volume.
In 2022 I also started a team, Regal Realty Group. I now have a team of four, including my Junior Agent, Jezell Griffin, Transaction Coordinator and Virtual Assistant.
I give all the praise and honor to God for bringing this far. I would encourage someone out there who is walking in faith but can’t see it yet. Keep going. Your steps are ordered. At the right time, you will reap if you don’t give up!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has not been a smooth road by any means. The market is constantly changing and unpredictable.
I recently attended a conference which takes place annually for Keller Williams agents called Family Reunion. The theme of this year’s conference was to “Charge the Storm”.
Our founder, Gary Keller encouraged us to run into the storm instead of away from it like a buffalo does. This symbolizes perseverance and the belief that eventually the “tough” times will pass.
Since I have been in real estate, there have been the struggles of learning how to become an entrepreneur. There have been times when no money was coming in. There have been times when I haven’t know where the next sale was coming from.
However, the rewards have outweighed the challenges tremendously. I have been able to serve so many people which is my ultimate passion. I have helped people who thought they would never be able to buy a home literally breaking generational struggles. I have reached a level a success that I couldn’t have ever even dreamed of and this business has stretched me way out of my comfort zone which has allowed me to grow into the woman I am today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
