Community Highlights: Meet Courtney Barcellos of An Untamed Nation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Barcellos.

Hi Courtney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I spent nearly a decade in corporate America running the rat race convincing myself I was making a difference in the life of others when really I was just playing a part in keeping them suppressed by the system. The pandemic swept our country and I used my medical background (Firefighter-medic) and I ran to help on the frontlines. I did 12 hours in the hospital then would go back to my hotel and do 6 hours of my corporate life. While on the frontlines losing patient after patient and people scrambling to keep food on the table for their families, etc., I realized I needed to use my intensive skillsets and talents for the greater good and do what I was meant to do in this life, impact the world. Below is a glimpse as to why I started An Untamed Nation.

Why An Untamed Nation?

Simple, John Rockefeller said, “I don’t want a nation of thinkers, I want a nation of workers.”

I don’t agree with that mindset yet that is the mindset the majority accepts. I do not fit into the box society expects a business owner/ CEO to look like and act like. I created An Untamed Nation to say f*ck you to the belief that average is enough and that there isn’t enough wealth in the world for everyone to win. There is plenty but not everyone is cut out for the hard work it takes to make it their reality.

My team & I will support you every step of the way and will not gatekeep information. We will be your biggest hype people, will keep it real with you and not blow smoke up your a** just to get your business. There is enough in this world for everyone to win so come join our community and let my team help you go from dreaming about your life to making it your reality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been the smoothest road because while starting my business I was going through a divorce and having to balance major changes in my personal life. When I first started the business a few years back, I was unable to maintain the level of excellence I demand of myself and my company during that period so I had to stop taking clients and paid the team that contracts with my business out of my own pocket because my personal life hurdles were no excuse for them not to receive their $$.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My company is not your average consulting & marketing business. We are not a ‘yes man’ company and we will tell you if your money would be better spent elsewhere instead of selling you a pipe dream and taking your money. We hold our clients to the same high standards of excellence we hold ourselves at. Pushing limits is what we do. As the  CEO/Founder I am covered in tattoos head to toe and breaks societal norms while obtaining higher levels of success & total wellness.

We specialize in helping businesses start up and/or scale and do digital marketing from paid to organic to help not only increase brand awareness and create social proof but to also get in front of the correct consumers as digital marketing has become king. We create & edit your content for all platforms and marketing outlets. We offer everything from business consulting to full marketing management, creation, and editing.

We are set apart because with An Untamed Nation, the CEO (me) is known as ‘The Untamed Boss’ because to my business isn’t just business, it is personal. Every client gets direct access to me  and truly becomes part of the family instead of just a client. The personal touch and treatment is what sets us apart plus our demand of excellence while destroying social norms. Our company takes part of the profit to give back to the community through our ‘Untamed Kindness’ program where we do random acts of kindness throughout the community – from buying groceries, giving flowers with a note, buying a single parent clothes for their kids, etc., it is our company’s mission to make this world filled with as many successful, hungry for more than average life, and impact the world one life at a time for the better.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Everything in life wagers a level of risk, even the ‘safest’ choices have their level of risk. In each decision we make in our lives, we calculate the risk consciously or subconsciously. Living too cautiously is like being an animal in a cage at the circus – at first, we know it doesn’t feel normal to be subdued like that but after time we condition ourselves to accept and settle for safe and average.

On the flip side, if we throw all caution to the wind and go balls to the wall non-stop, we are bound to create careless destruction. It is about finding a harmonious balance between the two. If you ask my family, I am a risk-taker. I jump out of airplanes, dive with sharks, travel the world solo, love to go fast on dirt bikes, bet all in on myself, and do not give myself the security of a w-2 job.

The biggest thing that holds people back is fear, fear of taking risks to make their dreams a reality. The worst addiction we have is a w-2. We aren’t challenged to invest in ourselves and bust our asses to make sure we succeed. I have gone all in on me – if I succeed, that is on me, if I fail and lose a roof over my head, that is on me. It is all on me but I will never stop taking risks to continue to build my life and the life of others. I have lived out of the back of my car before while hustling with multiple ways of earning money, and I have lived a great life, all because I took the greatest risk in life, betting on myself in life and pursuing my purpose.
