Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Kramer.
Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Art is something that I’ve always been fascinated with, but I learned quickly that drawing and painting was something I struggled with. I began looking for ways to express myself through different mediums. Starting with music in middle school, I played in bands until my early 20s.
While working with a production company, I helped record videos of a band playing live. Immediately, I realized that I loved being behind a camera and started researching my options. With my first camera, I met with friends to practice portrait photography and found that people were really enjoying my work. My friends asked me to shoot their wedding and once my work was posted online I started receiving phone calls from future clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been an extremely enjoyable experience. The largest struggle for me has been the feeling of imposter syndrome and being my own worst critic. I’ve learned to take a step back from my work and revisit it after a few days. Viewing photos in a different mindset or location can completely change the way they make me feel.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My business focus is primarily weddings, engagements, families and maternity, but I enjoy doing a little bit of everything.
Creative portraits are my specialty. Communicating with clients to learn about their interests and lifestyle to apply them to my work is a large part of what inspired me to pick up a camera. Typically, I’m known for leaning into darker and moodier photos and editing styles.
Any big plans?
Working towards taking on more wedding clients and seeing more of the beautiful wedding venues throughout Georgia.
Later this year, I’ll be taking my first trip out of the country. I’m looking forward to taking photos in cities that are completely foreign to me.
