Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeffrey Goodson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Goodson.

Hi Jeffrey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Believe it or not, I started preaching at age twenty. I was raised in the church by my Mother (who was an Usher) and my Father (who was a Deacon). I never thought that I would become a preacher or even preach the Word of God because I didn’t want to be “out in the front”. I didn’t even want to attend my high school graduation because I didn’t want to be out in front of people or have people watching and looking at me. Can you imagine that? Missing your own graduation because of? In spite of how I felt, God called me to preach His Word.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never considered myself a writer. I am just doing what God has called me to do. The pandemic caused a struggle that inspired me to think and write but I was not sure what exactly to write. Eventually, the Lord gave me what to write and I was able to maneuver through writer’s block. The pandemic actually gave me the inspiration to write my latest book (The Pain That Pushed Me)  because of the pain and death that so many people including myself had to deal with. I didn’t understand all that I had to go through until God showed me that we can use pain as a bridge for the things that God has for us. Looking back, once the book was ready to be published, I would say I had many challenges, especially with publishing companies. I tried four different publishers and the bad experience left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I felt like I would never ever partner with the right publisher that made me feel comfortable until I met The Crown And Cross Consulting And Publishing Co LLC (with Kimberly Stratton). She made me feel 100% comfortable and restored my hope and vision in writing that I lost due to other publishers and publishing companies.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What people should know about me is that I’m a people person. I’m also a Minster and Pastor who enjoys working with the youth, young people and helping our men. Working with the young people, the youth and the men’s ministry has been an amazing opportunity for me. My goal with each of these groups, especially the men, is to redirect them back on the path of righteousness. I’m proud to be an author and proud of the books God has allowed me to write to help stir His people back on the right track. I know my books and words of wisdom can help because I’m an honest, loyal and dedicated person. I enjoy being able to help the church and the people I pastor. I feel that it is a privilege that God selected me to do the work He has given me to do for Him. To date, I have written six books and every time I say this is going to be the last book, I write another. I want the books that God has given me to write to continue to be a blessing to others because they are written to help people and the situation(s) they are going through.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice is to have a plan, stick to it and stay positive in spite of any obstacle(s) that may come your way. Stick with the plan that God has given you and don’t compromise or procrastinate on the vision and plan God has given you. If God gave it to you, it will bless others. Watch and see.
