Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Lewis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Sweet Shots Cupcakes founded by Miranda Lewis, is currently a home-based boutique bakery located in Atlanta, Ga that specializes in liquor infused cupcakes and other mini desserts. We also offer non-infused, vegan and gluten-free options as well as homemade freshly baked multiple flavors.
Sweet Shots Cupcakes was created in Miranda’s hometown of Columbus, OH back in 2012 after not going on an annual “All Girls Getaway”. “We were looking for something different and fun to have and a friend found a recipe online, so we tried it but put our own flare to it and the rest is history!”, says Miranda. After realizing how popular the fun treats were that’s when the bright idea to start an actual business formed! “There wasn’t a lot of bakeries or bakers making liquor infused treats back then, I had found a niche so I went for it!”
After a couple of networking trips down to Atlanta, especially for BET Hip Hop Weekend, the decision to move to Atlanta for better business opportunities was made! Sweet Shots Cupcakes located to Atlanta in August 2013 and has been working ever since! “We’ve been truly blessed to work with some of the best businesses, Companies, artists, actors, publicists and more!! We’ve been able to make long-lasting relationships with people such as, Theory Communications, FreddyO.com, Grey Goose, CirocBoyBonds/Ciroc, MayLee Media, Suite Lounge, Boogalou Lounge, Chef Rob’s Caribbean Restaurant & Lounge, DJ Holiday, Kandi, Tiny and Streetz 94.5 just to name a few.”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all! There has definitely been more good than bad, but I’ve definitely been down that road of asking myself “ Are you sure you still want to do this? There are so many other people doing what you do and even better!”
But that’s when I remember I started doing this for fun! When I first started a lot of people never had heard of liquor infused cupcakes, and believe it or not for as popular as they are there’s a lot of people still not familiar. I just remember the WHY and it keeps me in the happy fun space from the 1st day I started.

Sweet Shots Cupcakes is currently a home-based boutique bakery located in Atlanta, Ga that specializes in liquor infused cupcakes and other mini desserts. We also offer non-infused, vegan and gluten-free options as well as homemade freshly baked multiple flavors.
We’re known for the multiple flavors we offer and also we’ve been nicknamed “Home of the extra shot on to” cupcake, which is our standard or muffin sized cupcakes with actual shot glasses on top.
What I’m most proud of the company is we do EVERYTHING ourselves. It’s only me and my awesome boyfriend who does all things Sweet Shots Cupcakes. Every order, event, trade shows, etc. we book ourselves from the relations we built and just networking ourselves.
The fact that we don’t do what every other bakery does, we stick to the classic cupcakes and pizazz more with our many flavor options and the actual TASTE of our cupcakes. Not to take away from all the absolute talented baker’s & chefs, but we just stay in our lane of what WE love to do and provide. All is what sets us apart from others and makes me proud all at the same time.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely NOTHING! Life is about learning lessons and not repeating the mistakes you made. Business is just like life, you’re never prepared for what’s thrown at you. But as long as you understand and accept that, you’ll be prepared o maneuver through accordingly.
