Check Out Clee Davis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clee Davis.

Hi Clee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a college student with a lot of ambition but little direction when I started my podcast. I started it because I knew I had a lot of ideas and knowledge that was valuable to the world but didn’t know what to do it with. The podcast was my personal commitment to taking action toward my dreams. Five years later I have had amazing opportunities to connect with influencers, community leaders, visionaries, organizations, companies, masterminds, speaking events, and entrepreneurs, win awards, start my own business, be featured, be interviewed, and help other people do the same thing. All because I started a podcast. The entire goal behind the content I create and the resources I provide is to give people the best blueprint possible for building a life and business they are actually proud of. I hope to continue doing that for many years to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it was not a smooth road. I graduated from college and life hit. I had no job and no prospects. I moved back to DC and was living in my childhood bedroom, replaying how my department chair said I was making a dumb mistake when I turned down a job offer in Orlando because I wanted to be a podcaster. Well, it turns out that all that time podcasting wasn’t in vain. I built a skillset that became a second love and that was audio engineering. I went on to become a radio producer at the #1 Contemporary Christian music station in Washington, DC and began an amazing career. But I wasn’t where I wanted to be. I wanted so badly to make an impact with the unique message God gave me and things just weren’t going according to my plan. I got discouraged and I gave up on my podcast. To scratch my creative itch I started making TikToks. Surprisingly, I was pretty good at it and accumulated over 70,000 followers, and even started making a little money. I realized I was called to be a content creator and I need to pick back up the podcast to fulfill my purpose. I started back up my podcast but this time with a new wealth of knowledge and a different paradigm. I no longer saw podcasting as a transactional means to an end. I began to see it as therapy. I started seeing my life as if it were a movie or a show and each day was an episode. And over time I developed a system that not only helped me build back up my show but also transformed my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Cleavon Davis is the founder/CVO of Build Your Vision LLC, a media & coaching company that trains busy, growth-minded visionaries in self-leadership and personal growth.

His mission is to build the “Vision Economy”. A balanced supply and demand ecosystem in which each individual’s accomplished vision is the platform for another vision to be actualized.

Cleavon believes there’s a broken link in the supply chain, leaving the world with many dreamers but few visionaries, and he wants to partner with as many people as possible to fix it. Build Your Vision is the blueprint to bridge the execution gap between the vision you have and the life you live.

Cleavon is most well known for his combination of intellect and humor through his Build Your Vision podcast and Christian comedy skits online.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
– Pay to play. Find a visionary you admire and see if they have any type of community. The highest quality networks cost. Invest in yourself, you will not regret it.

– Be interested in the lives and success of others and you will automatically become interesting to others. Your network will begin to build itself organically.

– Start a podcast or some type of show (platform) and have a just cause (purpose beyond yourself). These two things will provide you with immediate leverage in any space you enter. You can network vertically, getting on the radar of potential mentors and network laterally by increasing your exposure to those in your industry.
