Today we’d like to introduce you to Teri Smith.
Hi Teri, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I met, dated & married w/in one month in 2015. (He was on the East Coast and I on the West Coast). Our conversations from day one consist of how we may serve and live our lives daily, fully and COMPLETELY for GOD. You see, our desire was to start a Marriage Ministry at a Church and GOD heard our Prayer. From 2016 – Present: We passionately formed a Marriage Ministry to Lovingly Guide & Coach Couples to become one in their heart and most importantly in their minds. We knew that if they could embrace that concept and how it relates to their Destiny in Christ, they could live in Harmony with Purpose. Their lives would Abundantly Bless their families for Generations to come as long as they dedicated it to Him. So, yes, this is what we DO and our Lives are Rich with Favor, Protection and Blessings of Wisdom and Visions that we want to share and shower on Couples so they may teach their families to do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have had our challenges along with a few growing pains in the first couple of years of blending our values and lifestyles just in the manner and way of how we went about our daily routines. I’m truly thankful that we dug our heels in deep and held tight to GOD’s Unchanging Hands, one another, our Prayer and our Faith and He pulled us through. I truly believe it was because He has a PLAN bigger than any of our feelings or what our eyes can see. You know, moving to a new state and leaving my parents, children, family and friends was extremely HARD as we were not just visiting we were relocating!! Since we moved, we have experienced sorrowful, family losses and Praise be to GOD, we gained new grandchildren. Unfortunately, we have missed a few milestone Family celebrations due to our commitment and the pandemic. However, we knew there would be times we would have to make sacrifices along the way to carry out GOD’s assignment. We are moving Faithfully forward Trusting that GOD‘s plan for us is making up for all of the moments we have missed so that we can ALL be together under one roof and never miss another monumental moment in time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
‘I Forever Will’ is our Marriage Counseling Practice. My Husband, Tory and I are Nationally Board Certified Christian Counselors by day.. We are the creators and hosts of a syndicated & global radio and TV show called Love In Black with Tory & Teri.
* We offer the following Services: Individual, Relationship, Premarital, Marriage and Family Counseling.
* We are known for our unique counseling style which offers: a Real World approach – while keeping a Clinical perspective – and a Spiritual mindset.
* We are exceptional in the sense that my I am the designated ‘FUN Fairy’ I provide the Romantic and Sexual activities & homework assignments for the Couples to enhance their Intimacy.
* We are Truly Proud and Humbled to be Called to assist Couples in achieving their ‘Personal Best’!!
* We press to Lead & Live by our own Love example that we Display Privately as well as Publicly. You see, Everything is a Choice!! We have made a conscience effort to choose each day we wake to be better, ‘1st for GOD’, 2nd for each other and then our Children. We must set the example. We have a total of six adult children and six Grand babies!!
We are humble and grateful to be so Blessed to take our roles seriously enough to change the dynamic of our Family Legacy for the BETTER!! My Husband, Tory and I have an opportunity to Live Happily each new day. We want to help couples set the BIGGER Vision for their Lives to Align with GOD’s Ultimate Vision which is for All Married Couples to be ‘WINNING AS ONE!!‘
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We took a HUGE risk on meeting and marrying in 30 days. This particular choice is not for everyone; however, it has been rewarding and life-changing for us.
Over the years, we have learned Critically Valuable Lessons: One being that time is precious and we must shift our values to what TRULY matters. Our relationship with GOD and Family comes first and foremost. At the onset of the pandemic, we received 100’s, which became 1000’s of inquiries for Relationship & Marriage Counseling. My husband and I were in awe of the inquiries we received which literally came every 5 minutes. We said, ‘Our Email (cup) runneth over, lol’. On a serious note though, it saddened us to see that many couples had not really taken time out to spend time together, talk, understand and simply ‘be there’ emotionally for one another. We must all be more vigilant in protecting our Loved ones Physically, Mentally & Emotionally from the damaging effects of this World.
