Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Roberts.
Victoria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m not quite sure where to start. I played travel and school volleyball for seven years and after my 10th-grade year of high school, I realized that I couldn’t picture myself playing volleyball anymore. I was on the Engineering pathway at my school and knew that if I pursued it in college, not only would I have a ton on my plate, but also there would have been a rare chance that I would make it to play for the U.S.A team (there are no state-to-state teams like the NBA or NFL). Fast forward 2 years and here I am, a 6’0 tall girl who just graduated high school, class of 2020, and was on my way to start college. I had always been told I should model and did a small job for a jewelry company back at age 15 but other than that, I had never seen myself actually doing it. September 2020 is when I did my first photoshoot and it really took off after that. I signed with a small agency in November 2020 and worked with them for about two years. Within those two years, I was booking any job that I could get from makeup companies to clothing brands to skincare companies. I eventually ended up on a billboard in Atlanta and that was probably one of my biggest achievements back then. Soon after, I terminated my contract with the agency to look for better opportunities and I am now currently signed with Alima Industries Model Management (AIMM). I absolutely love working for AIMM and I definitely feel myself growing as a model. I have been signed with AIMM for about three months now and in that short time period, I have had the opportunity to walk in a runway show for CVS Health. I specialize in Beauty, Commercial, Lifestyle, Print, Swimsuit, and somewhat Runway. I am very excited and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road whatsoever in this journey. When I first started out modeling, I was very insecure and always had been insecure (since a young age) about my height. I also despised wearing heels as multiple people would constantly tell me that I am “too tall to wear heels” and make snarky comments about it. Once I was able to cut out all the negativity, I started to thrive and grow and progress into the model I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Aside from modeling, I am also a student. I was studying Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Design Graphics and absolutely loved it. I recently switched my major from Mechanical Engineering to Business Entrepreneurship as I felt like it would be a better fit for my future plans. Because I still have an interest in Mechanical Engineering, I plan on getting my certification in the computer program “Solidworks”, so I am able to not only have my certification in an Engineering design program but also have a degree in Business Entrepreneurship.
In addition to my education, I am in the process of launching my first E-Commerce business and should be launching another within the next six months. It is important to me to create multiple streams of income for not only myself but for my family as well so I’m also invested into stocks as well as index funds. I find interest in learning about building generational wealth and shifting my mindset from “I think” to “I can”. I believe that the knowledge to become wealthy is out there, you just have to want it. A few of my favorite books include “The 4- Hour Work Week” by Timothy Ferriss, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, and “The 10x Rule” by Grant Cardone. I definitely recommend these books to anyone and everyone.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
An important lesson I have learned along this journey is to always be kind to others. My father passed away in November of 2021 and he used to always say, since I was little, “Be nice and tell the truth”. He instilled that quote into my head and I live by it. Another lesson I have learned is to never give up, no matter what. You must keep pushing to reach your goals and not let a minor setback stop your major comeback. And don’t forget to say your affirmations each day; It helps to improve your confidence and manifest your goals and dreams.
