Today we’d like to introduce you to Noemi Jackson.
Noemi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
All started after graduating from Chattahoochee Technical College, Marietta, GA in 2009. The following year I started a Tax Preparation business in Stone Mountain, GA. Took a break from tax business and I went back to school to finish my Bachelor’s degree at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA. In the meantime I was still volunteering as an accountant at a Brazilian-based non-profit Religious church called Ministério Internacional Tabernáculo (Grace of God Tabernacle) located in Marietta, GA. I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro- Brazil. I served the Atlanta Brazilian Community for many years. As an accountant and translator. I assisted the members of the Brazilian church I was part of at doctor’s visits, court hearings, hospital stays, and jail visits.
I always loved math. Accounting is a God-given talent that has allowed me to be an effective citizen and active member of my community.
I also worked as an accountant for seven years in Higher Education for three different universities, Georgia State University, Morehouse School of Medicine and Morehouse College.
After graduating with a Master’s degree in Science of Accounting from Liberty University, I wanted to still be a voice of hope and financial literacy for my community. In 2022, Jackson Bookkeeping & Accounting, LLC was born.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Great question! It was not a smooth sailing to get where I am today. I am thankful for my family, friends and mentors who have kept me focused and on track. I am grateful for my husband Andre D. Jackson and my five years old son Andre D. Jackson II for their support during long nights of work and study. My parents, Luiz H. and Arínea C Silva, my brothers Andre L. Silva, Heber L. Silva, my sister-in-law Michelly C. Silva, my father-in-law James Jackson for their prayers and support. My mentors Dr. Theresa Goggins (Open Door Mentoring), Bill Von Funetti (Booming Bookkeeping), Apostle Patrícia Allen (Prayershield International Ministries), Apostle Lynn and Ed Alderson (kingdom Authority) for their prayers and wise counsel. Friends and colleagues like Katissa Lupoe CEO of Dream Big Academy, Lecresha Chaney – Associate Director Morehouse College, Charmaine Daniels – Flywire Deployment Consultant, Manager and Darrnell Long, Controller at Institute of Medical Ultrasound.
I had to make sacrifices, wait for the right time to act on certain decisions. But by the Grace of God and the wisdom from the Holy Spirit, I was able to press thru the obstacles toward the finish line.
