Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashad Clark.
Hi Rashad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for music, but recently I’ve become more fascinated with mixing tracks, starting in June of 2022. That passion has steered me into becoming a professional DJ, which allowed me to incorporate my talents.
Being a DJ gave me the opportunity to collaborate with individuals by showcasing my love for music at special events.
Since my first performance, I have gained tons of invaluable experiences by performing at clubs, weddings, adult parties, as well as children’s parties!
My DJ genres consists of: Afro beats, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Dance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many people think DJ’ing is just queuing music and mixing tracks but it’s definitely not that simple. Building a brand alongside the “fun” is not acknowledged as much as it should be. I’ve had to become very knowledgeable on the business side of things and it’s very time-consuming.
Investing in my brand and sound has also been quite the feat. Equipment is not cheap and in order to produce the best quality of sound for my listeners, I have to constantly upgrade software and equipment. This was especially difficult in the beginning when I was investing more than profiting.
Gaining traction in Atlanta is difficult as well because the market is so saturated. Being able to put myself out there and market DJ Shad ATL LLC as something catered toward everyone in the community hasn’t been nearly as easy as I thought.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Music has been my passion since I was a kid. Many of my competitors specialize in a specific genre of music. I differ from them because I connect with all groups through my ability to mix different genres. The excitement I feel from giving my crowd an outlet to express themselves through the music that I play motivates me to elevate and keep going!
We are of course, a black-owned organization and my main goal is to inspire. I want young people in my community to know that you can have fun and be successful in whatever you choose to do. You don’t have to look a certain way or be in a specific job role to have success.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Great question! In 5-10 years, I see DJ Shad ATL LLC going global. I will have gigs state and nationwide. I want to be working with the top producers and new artists of the time. I also see us mentoring the youth and holding mixers and classes to teach the community the art of my craft. If you have passion then the message will flow with ease. That’s my goal.
