Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Thomas.
Hi Malika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up in the vibrant and multicultural city of Atlanta, I’ve witnessed firsthand the many adversities that young people in our community face daily. This experience led me to take action and become a direct political advocate for change. My turning point came in 2021 when my Fiancé and I founded Blueroom Home Services, which has since evolved into Blueroom Corp. This organization provides easy, fast, and affordable home services such as moving help, home cleaning, and grocery organization to seniors and less fortunate youth in the community who are struggling due to economic downfall. By working closely with elected officials and other local business owners, We have been able to impact the community in many ways, bringing much-needed awareness and resources to families who otherwise lacked access. I am now proudly championing the MalikaForAtlanta campaign and continuing to build avenues for youth awareness and resources. I believe my story is a testament to the power of community activism and the difference that one person can make in the lives of others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path of fostering youth political awareness and organizing community service can prove to be treacherous terrain. Frequently, we are faced with opposition from those who doubt our vision, and we must navigate the financial obstacles that trouble our efforts to provide our communities with the full range of resources they require.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blueroom Corp.?
As the year 2021 rolled in, an unsettling trend began to take hold in our communities. The cost of home services began to climb, creating an undue burden on seniors living on fixed incomes and low-income families. It was a call to action, and we decided to do something about it. We set out to offer discounted services to those in need, providing a lifeline to over 1600 homes throughout Georgia.
With unwavering dedication, we have proudly forged a path forward in the residential logistics industry, our mission to make home services accessible for all. Our vision is to lead the industry into a future where everyone can benefit from essential home services, regardless of their financial means.
What matters most to you? Why?
To me, there is no greater objective than to cultivate progress in the political involvement of our Youth. Creating channels through which our young people can express their perspectives and cultivate a sense of communal responsibility is paramount.
