Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Brown.
Hi Whitney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a passion for expressing my creativity and knew I wanted to choose a path where I could continue to use my creativity in the work field. I graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. After graduation, I accepted an internship with a marketing agency in Nashville, TN which led to a full-time position. While working with the agency, I was able to apply my knowledge from my degree and gain experience learning the ins and outs of social media marketing. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Tennessee, my roots were calling me back home to my hometown of Newnan. I have always had a love for my hometown and knew I wanted to apply what I love to do in the community I love. That’s when I decided to start WB Media Management. I specialize in social media management and digital content creation. I hit the ground running immediately, helping multiple businesses grow their media platforms by elevating their brands’ social media presence thus increasing visibility. With increased engagement and metrics, I have helped businesses connect with their target audience, ultimately increasing the reach of their brand. In combination, I have expanded my graphic design platform which contains my day-to-day graphic creations for different businesses, various custom invitations, custom signs, wall art, and more! I have enjoyed working with numerous clients, and I’m thankful to be expanding and currently taking on new clients!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I knew from the beginning that there would be struggles. As with any business, there are bound to be bumps in the road. I have found that one of my biggest obstacles is finding a healthy work-life balance. I have such a strong passion for the work I produce that in the beginning I caught myself letting my work consume my life. I think as a new business owner it’s important to establish boundaries early that separate your schedule and allow a healthy balance. I would also encourage anyone who is thinking about starting a business to stay focused and consistent. I’ve learned through starting a business how important consistency can be. Another obstacle I faced was being hard on myself in the beginning when things were moving slowly. It took me some time to understand that as long as you’re consistent and produce work that you’re proud of it will take off on its own time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
WB Media Management is a social media management and digital content creation agency. The goal of creating this company has been to help businesses grow their media platforms by elevating their brands’ social media presence to increase visibility. As I said previously, with increased engagement and metrics, I have helped businesses connect with their target audience, ultimately increasing the reach of the brand. I offer custom social media management packages that fit each client’s specific needs and set them up for success. These packages contain a variety of different tools such as profile setup, logo creation, branding kits, content shoots, engagement management, content planning and scheduling, on-branding graphic creations, analytic studies, newsletter marketing, and more! Something I’m proud of with my brand is all the great relationships I’ve had the opportunity to make with each client I’ve worked with. I take pride in being hands-on with each of my clients and take the time to learn about their brand to ensure I display them well through media which can be hard to find with larger agencies.
In combination, my graphic design work also branches out to various custom invitations, custom signs, wall art, and more. Through my graphic design, I’ve loved working with a variety of different clients to bring their visions to life. I’ve done many custom invitations for birthday parties, gender reveals engagement parties, and many other celebrations. I’ve also enjoyed making custom signs for weddings, and dog portraits and working with companies to design company event shirts and banners. Some of my work can be purchased on my Etsy shop or I can be contacted via email or social media direct messaging for custom orders.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The role of a social media manager/entrepreneur can be very hectic, so I try my best to make not only my workspace organized but my mind as well. On the work side of things, I have found the app ‘Planoly’ to be my best friend. This app allows me to schedule all my clients’ posts and make sure everything is neat and prepared. After a long workday, I like to go on walks to clear my head. I often listen to various self-help podcasts while on my walks. One podcast that I have been enjoying recently is “Dare to Lead with Brené Brown”. I’d recommend this podcast to anyone who holds or would like to hold a leadership role at work, in your home, or in your community.
