Meet Trailblazer Terrace Sherman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrace Sherman.

Terrace, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Like most little girls, when I was younger, I loved to play make believe, dress up and dream about what I wanted to be when I “grew up”… with the focus always being on success and owning my very own business. Raised in a single parent household, right about the poverty line, I had no idea how I was going to make these dreams come true. Over the years, I had written out business plan after business plan, feeling the need to have every single detail in place before launching. Then one day, I realized… there would never be a perfect time to go after my goals.

I launched my first business while in college in an attempt to create an additional stream of income. My business has continued to evolve and grow since then.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing up in a single-parent household and being a first generation scholar, helped me to learn to troubleshoot and navigate my way through life. I am also no stranger to hard work and doing what it takes to achieve my goals.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Couture Inc – what should we know?
Couture, Inc. is a growing corporation, specializing in marketing, events, eCommerce and beauty.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from The Michigan State University and I am a certified Social Marketing Professional. My studies have extended to Paris, France and Brussels, Belgium where I was trained in organizational and international communication and public affairs methods. I have over 7 years in the marketing and event industry, working with organizations such as The Aitch Foundation, Heraeus Kulzer, Atlanta International Fashion Week and Texas Instruments.

I offer brand strategy development and corporate event planning services.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I realized my creative purpose as a child. I used to love to draw and design dresses starting in about third grade. I would make clothes for my dolls, host fashion shows and create vision boards about being an entrepreneur.
I also loved reading and writing a lot. I would fill up journal after journal and lose myself in my favorite books. It wasn’t until I was in my junior year of college, that I realized everything I’ve loved my entire life were the tools I needed to be successful in entrepreneurship.
