Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Khouri.
Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began with a deep connection to the world of sound that traces back to my roots as a trained singer and musical theater performer and even my brief stint working in A&R for Interscope Records. Along the way, I embraced my family’s legacy of entrepreneurship, musicianship, and activism, which inspired me to make a difference in the world. Despite the seemingly random and meandering journey, it all led me to my true passion: podcasting and audio production.
In 2018, I took a leap of faith and founded FRQNCY Media, driven by the vision of making the audio industry inclusive and accessible to all voices who want to bring good into this world. As a first-generation Colombian American, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but I’ve always been motivated by the desire to create opportunities for others and to break down barriers in the industry.
Today, FRQNCY Media has grown into an industry leader, and I’m grateful for every obstacle and triumph that has shaped our journey.
And we just announced the most recent addition to my story, Recordical, our groundbreaking new membership platform built specifically for independent creators. Recordical is a testament to our commitment to empower audio creators with high-quality tools, resources, and smart studios.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to success has been far from smooth, but I believe that it’s how I overcame those struggles that has helped to define my success. As a female entrepreneur and a first-generation Colombian American, I’ve faced biases, obstacles, and countless challenges, but these experiences have only fueled my passion for fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the audio industry.
Every single time I’ve encountered adversity, I’ve been reminded of why I worked so hard to build FRQNCY Media and, now, Recordical: to use the power of sound to bring important, powerful, and uplifting stories into the world. It’s this sense of purpose that has kept me going through some very trying times.
Coming up with the idea for Recordical was easy, but turning that idea into a reality is hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever done. When you have an idea that makes you wonder how in the heck it doesn’t yet exist – I now know the answer. It’s because few people have the resilience and sheer courage it takes to build something brand new. There have been a lot of moments that pushed me to the brink of giving up, but because I was building this idea as an expression of a greater mission and purpose – and not simply for my own ego or pride – I was able to push through those moments to find an ever-deepening well of strength and drive within myself.
It’s been genuinely transformative to build both FRQNCY Media and Recordical as a sole founder, from scratch and without any investment (or family) backing. And I have my team to thank for every success along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about FRQNCY Media, Recordical?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is more of a relentless habit I had as a young kid, which was to climb onto *any* stage I came across and started performing. Seriously, it was a problem. If my mom wasn’t looking after me VERY CLOSELY, and we came across a public stage of some sort (my favorite stages were the open-air stages on Hollywood Beach in Ft. Lauderdale and at Bayside Marketplace in Downtown Miami), I was climbing up on that stage in half a second flat to start belting a song or dancing to some made-up-on-the-spot choreography. I was and still am, a ham.
