Today we’d like to introduce you to Me’Kayla Person.
Hi Me’Kayla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been so into beauty. I mean, as early as a toddler, throwing tantrums for the plastic princess heels in the dollar store. I started a passion for makeup very early that led me to become a self-taught MUA in high school. Once it was time for me to graduate, I was at a standstill with my parents about going to school undecided.
I was in a place of urgency when I discovered that I can become an esthetician and still continue what I loved! I enrolled at Kenneth Shuler of Spartanburg soon after graduating high school in 2018. I fell in love with hair removal immediately. It was love at first pull! I quickly transitioned my MUA business into a full-body hair removal entity after graduating with 600 hours. I still am as in love as I was at 19. I am 23 now. I am planning to continue sharpening my skill set, incorporating new services/products, and expanding Muse Esthetics beyond my wildest dreams!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, honestly no. Nothing worth anything substantial is hardly ever easy. There’s literal blood, sweat and a sea of tears throughout my journey. I wouldn’t have traded it for anything different or easier, though. One of the biggest struggles for me is the money part. I love what I do and the money just comes. To run a successful business, the money can just come but there has to be a receipt for every single thing coming and leaving through the door. Finances aren’t my strong suit so that’s one of (if not, the biggest) struggle for me thus far into entrepreneurship.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician and I specialize in full-body waxing. I am most proud of my Brazillian waxing service. I leave absolutely no hair left behind. I’m very anal about it. It’s my slogan. No doubt I can finish a Brazilian in 10-12 minutes but I pride myself on quality over quantity. I want everyone who has ever supported Muse Esthetics to know that I put my all into each appointment and I will never short or skimp out. Quality is key!
