Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Madam Maj.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got started through the love of music, sacrifice, and dedication! I’ve loved music all my life, I mean who doesn’t??? In my younger years, I was in the school and church choir and took vocal and piano lessons. Totally always been musically inclined. I’ve been DJing for the past four years, and this has been an amazing journey. A scary journey but when you bet on yourself, it’s scary. I’ve gained so many supporters over the years and still continuing so that gives me the drive even more to continue on this path of success. I still consider myself to be just getting started and will keep putting in the hard work, sweat, and tears to succeed!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish it was but any path worth taking will not be a smooth road down the line! Two of the major struggles for me would be doubt and always overthinking projects. I believe as a creative, we try our to hardest to present our best work to our audience, and behind-the-scenes doubt will come into play. As well as overthinking if the project is any good. Many struggles come to mind but those are the main ones
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a traveling DJ and event planner. My specialty when I’m on set is a combination of skill, song choice, and my energy! Which all contribute to my uniqueness. Having the passion to connect with a crowd and curate an amazing experience is one of my many proud moments. Music and dancing are healing remedies, and I like to consider myself a Healer when I’m on set.
I was born and raised in NYC, and that’s where I throw networking events and parties. At any of my events, you can feel the good positive vibes in the air. I mean, we are out in Brooklyn! As Biggie Smalls said, “Showing love is the Brooklyn way!”. You’ll see small business owners from all walks of life vending at my networking events as patrons are walking around supporting. Featuring upcoming music artists and children’s entertainment companies. I pride myself in providing good vibes and good times in all my endeavors.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I’ve always been the light in the room. A burst of energy, as my former teachers would say. I loved to dance and sing to just about any song I heard. Music has always been a part of my life. I was in the youth choirs at school and church. Also, took vocal lessons and music theory in my younger teenage years. Growing up was pretty cool and definitely helped shape me into my musical career that I have today!
