Today we’d like to introduce you to Charity Mullins.
Hi Charity, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to interview me and get to know more about what I do outside of being a mom and working a 9 to 5. I started out in Human Resources back in 2012 doing contract work and became more interested in HR and the different areas you could grow and merge into. One of those areas being interviewing candidates and seeing loads of resumes daily and when a candidate wasn’t chosen for the particular position, instead of just sending an automated denial response, I’d give them feedback on how to make their resume and career profile stand out, then I began doing resumes on the side outside of that and as my HR experience grew (from being a Benefits Specialist, HR Coordinator, HR Generalist and now as an HR Business Partner), so did my Resume and HR Consulting Services and it skyrocketed from there! Currently, 109 plus clients and counting.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road (especially losing my mommy back in 2017, she was my biggest supporter) but I kept my eyes on the prize, stayed focused and knew what and where I wanted to be within a certain time and by a certain age. One major tool I used along the way was a goal-setting journal and vision board and checking off what I envisioned and executing the vision/plan. If something didn’t work, I sought a new avenue. But it’s something about wanting to check something off, you feel so accomplished and motivated to begin the next task.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally and career-wise, I am a HR Business Partner and work in ALL areas of Human Resources. One of the many reasons I love this profession because you are exposed to so many different roles and opportunities. I’m most proud that I am making and paving the way for others to be able to give them tools to succeed in areas of interest and I’m also proud that I’ve worked my way up from starting out so small. I’m most known for my resume services as well as singing on a personal level. What sets me apart from others is my unique personality. Also, as for resume services, before I finish a client’s resume or service they inquire on, I pray over their resume and pray a door opens for them in their area or field of interest.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If you want something, set your mind to it, envision it, write it down and make it happen! The only person stopping you is YOU. Trust the process and know God won’t ever steer you in the wrong direction, even if you feel it is taking you longer than you anticipated. 💛
