Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Lewis.
Hi Rob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello. My name is Rob Lewis AKA DOUBLE R. I’m from Columbus, GA. I have been doing music since 03. AND I HAVEN’T STOPPED since I started at the time. I was signed to Hi-powered Multimedia for an album deal. So I did that for about a year and put my first project out! I gotta chance to work with a well-known producer from ATL BY the name of Geo. He worked with a lot of artists from ATL at that time. But I had to stop working with Geo cause he moved away so I had to get another producer so I could keep going.
But after the music, I started my own label own productions and now I’m still doing my thing with my own podcast called industry watch newz.n I have been doing this for bout two years now and I still do music. I’m in the process of dropping a new project soon so stay tuned for that. I always had a love for hiphop and fashion those two elements of the game is what got me involved in the culture and I was heavy into fashion so it all worked out for me cause that was an escape from the world. So yeah music is a major part of my life and forever will be. And like I say I ain’t stopping till I can’t do it no more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to success is never easy cause you gonna always have people that doubt you until you make it, then they love you but my journey wasn’t easy either. I had alot of nonbelievers until they start seeing me do my thing. I lost girlfriends and friends behind this music business because for people that don’t do music or entertainment period, they don’t understand it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My strengths are I can dj as well as I can rap and what sets me apart from others is I like originality so therefore I’m always gonna do some different than the norm and I jumped into the podcast game on my own and learned the craft and executed it to the fullest.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom deserves credit for believing in me and big brother Ron Nelson cause they have seen my vision before anybody.
