Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Fraser.
Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a female entrepreneur and business owner. I first started doing hair for fun at 13 years old and it eventually turned into one of my passions. I started doing my cousin’s hair then moved on to doing my friend’s hair in school for free. So many people pushed me along the way and told me to never sell my gift short. Years later and I’ve worked in so many rooms as well as New York fashion week which kickstarted my career. I love making people feel good about themselves and allowing me to transform them into their alter egos. Hair literally became life for me, now it’s up and stuck!! Lol.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? I don’t think it’s such a thing in business. I’ve had so many ups and downs throughout this journey but it’s really made me the person I am today. I’ve taken so may losses from vendors to clients and no matter what you learn to pick yourself up and continue to go hard for what you want. Trust me there are days you feel like throwing in the towel and giving up but when you realize how hard you’ve worked and how far you’ve come it makes you strive for bigger and better!

My brand BeautyByAsh is a black-owned hair business that specializes in all types of hair care from wigs and weaves to braids and locs. I am located in Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY. I like to consider myself a celebrity stylist but I’m humble enough to know that it’s regular people like me that’s helped me get to that point. I am very much a perfectionist and I pride myself in that. I work hard to ensure that every client is at their happiest when leaving my chair. I offer almost every service and love giving back during prom/graduation season in my community for those who can’t afford to take care of all necessary needs. BeautyByAsh is not just a brand but its a home for many to feel comfortable and safe in allowing me to bless their crowns!!
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is my clients, from toddlers to adults I enjoy servicing everyone and them allowing me to pour my joy and passion into my craft. I live off of smiles, joy and laughter. It literally fuels my soul and allows me to live a positive and high-vibrational life throughout my hair care journey. As a boss and mom happiness is key to life.
