Today we’d like to introduce you to Catrina Crowe.
Catrina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Through college, I was an aspiring artist. So, like a lot of millennials, my degree isn’t worth much. My first job was in a high-end glass store. Ok, fine, it was a smoke shop in Little Five Points, but it sounds good, doesn’t it? My mother was a real estate agent and my siblings and I grew up going to listing appointments and open houses, so I suppose that love for sales came naturally. I worked in retail and various marketing gigs throughout the years, but I have always been fleeting, usually taking the hardest possible path to success, i.e., getting in my own way.
After college, I was traveling across the country and decided along the way to start a new life in Arizona. I started work at the first minimum wage job I could find, within a year I worked my way up to a nice-sized salary job, but then I threw life a curveball. I got pregnant and it became clear that I needed a career that would work for me, and it was a no-brainer to be close to family for support, so I made my way back to Georgia to join the family business – Joy Evans Realty.
My inspiration is, and always will be, my mother. She is the rock of our family and also our business. She has tirelessly raised three children as a single mother and has clawed her way up the real estate food chain to break through into the male-dominated commercial real estate field over the last 25+ years. As children during the 2008 recession, we got a first-hand look at how dedicated, pliable and educated you have to be to truly “make it” in real estate. Honestly, her ability to not only survive but thrive throughout the years is what keeps me in awe and always looking forward to continuing my education and furthering my career.
Together, we manage a full-service, family-owned and operated real estate company in Conyers, GA. My mother, Joy, is a principal broker. I am an acting associate broker in the 5th year of my real estate career and my brother, Thomas, is a real estate agent as well as a Sergeant for the Fire Department in Conyers. Along with the other agents in our office, we strive to help build our community through residential, land and commercial real estate, events such as free credit repair workshops, participating in community festivals and spreading the word of home ownership and providing resources for entrepreneurs like us.
You can come to see us in person at 1284 Green St. SE Conyers, GA 30012 or give me a call at (470)595-0860!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe anyone has had a smooth road without any struggles, not in life and not in business – especially if they’re successful. There will always be obstacles in life and within every industry. The constant overflow of new products and information has always been a battle for me to weed out the productive vs. time-wasters, but it’s always a learning experience and a chance to educate myself, as well. I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with a family who lives, breathes and works in real estate and a broker who always answers my calls (even if it’s only because she wants to talk to her grandson!)
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a family-owned and operated business. We pride ourselves on honesty and commitment to the public. We provide services to buyers, sellers, and investors and specialize in commercial, residential and land. We market many commercial and investment properties, including but not limited to multi-family housing, industrial and businesses with hard assets. We also assist in the purchase of distressed properties, provide rehab services and rent or sell for investors. We care about your investment future and guarantee we will work diligently to fulfill your specific needs in real estate.
Our mission statement is to “Provide all our clients with honesty, integrity and dedication to ensure their success”.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think most people that have worked with our company know that we are family-owned, but it’s always funny when people realize my mother and I are related. As far as something about me – I’m sure most people don’t know that when I’m not busy being a full-time real estate agent and mom, I prefer to be hiking in the woods somewhere, taking photos with vintage film cameras!
