Hidden Gems: Meet Dnazia Wardlaw of Dlove Boutique/ Dlove Cares Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dnazia Wardlaw.

Dnazia Wardlaw

Dnazia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since the age of eight, I took a passion into doing hair. I myself always took pride in my looks and stayed trying new hairstyles. I one day gained the thought of running my own boutique where myself can give other women the same feeling I get when I get my hair done. I also started telling everyone around me… I’m going to run an online boutique. I’m a mom of two and the oldest of four siblings. I am a passionate, self- driving, motivational person. I have people looking up to me and I’m their leader. I am.. just like.. they are my motivation to become successful one day. That’s when it hit me… I’m going to have my own hair line and I’m going to sell it to others. I always had a passion for helping people so I believed that giving them a reasonable all-in-one site to shop will be helpful for single moms and whoever else needs some confidence uplifting. Self- confidence is a big deal to me. I really had an eye-opener around covid time. When I would go out to the grocery store, I would see moms in particular look so tired and drained. Their hair unkept and the look of being defeated (sometimes as women we let ourselves go and put everyone before us except ourselves). It pushed me to go ahead and open it. I started Dlove Boutique in 2020 for those needs. I started off with bundles and lashes. I write all my customers a love letter to motivate them to keep going. We now have over 25 styles of Mink lashes, Outfits, lipgloss, Hair units, bundles, Closure and frontals, Oh and our Hair product line also.

In this tough world we live in… a little motivation is all we need. Once I got my business up and running I then thought to myself this isn’t enough. I still had that desire to help more people but this time I want to just give back. That’s when I decided to open a nonprofit for single parents called Dlove Cares Co. Single moms and dads don’t get enough recognition. We don’t have many resources to express our frustration and anger that comes along with the hardest job in the world..being a parent. I want to give the world that safe zone. Non-judgmental and we can come together as a community and help one another. A lot of parents need support. I want to give them that. We will help with bills, do toy drives, host Mom and Dad award ceremonies, help with kid birthdays and so much more we have to offer. I juggle both businesses while also being a stay-at-home mom. I have two beautiful kids and two bonus kids I adore and love very much. I also have a very supportive family and a loving fiancé. I will not stop with these businesses until my children’s generational wealth is met. I want to be the first millionaire in my family and to show my girls that being a business owner is important and it brings power. They one day will run this very business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a business owner is very challenging. It brings many different obstacles but if you want to succeed, you have to keep going. I don’t know why I started a business during Covid but I did and I am still in business. You typically learn something new daily. It’s hard also satisfying everyone and grasping the worlds attention. Sometimes you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere and other times you sit back and see the growth. I have came a long way. I started off with hair bundles and mink lashes. I now have a hair product line, over 25 styles of lashes, clothes, wig units, and lipglosses. We are only getting better with time. Marketing hasn’t been so great and the major challenge we face. But we still somehow overcome that and still sell our products all around the world. Juggling life sometimes makes it hard on business owners because we too have responsibilities like bills and other expenses to pay. I have sacrificed so much on my business but it’s all a part of success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dlove Boutique/ Dlove Cares Co?
We sell Vietnamese and Peruvian hair only. We also offer Hair units, hair bundles/hd closures, mink lashes, hair products, clothes, sunglasses and etc. I also do hair and offer lace install services and braiding servicing as well. Dlove Boutique has everything a women may need to build confidence and feel good. My non-profit Dlove Cares is to recognize and honor single moms and dads. Acknowledge them for being a single parent and give them a safe space to vent and meet other single moms and dads like them. It takes a community right? With this organization I will be acknowledging and awarding parents with award ceremonies, hosting toy and back-to-school drives, help them with bills and childcare payments. Another thing I do is help with kid’s birthdays. If a parent doesn’t have it in their budget to give their child a birthday, we help with that as well. We also offer emergency financial assistance. Help pay rent, utilities, child care and more.
