Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Nelson.
Hi Leslie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I launched my business, Pivotal Connections, LLC, in 2021. At the time, I was rounding out a career that included working in the nonprofit industry, federal government, and the U.S. Army.
Today, I use and share my lifelong experiences – as a business leader, military veteran, military spouse, and parent – to prepare, inspire, value, optimize, and transform (or PIVOT) current and aspiring leaders.
As a Maxwell Leadership Certified Team (MLCT) Member, I also utilize an array of learning systems and resources, developed by world-renowned leadership expert John C. Maxwell and his team, to create life-changing, interactive experiences for adults and youth who are committed to personal and professional growth.
By far, my greatest joys and accomplishments in life have been as a wife and parent. Because I value the family unit so much and understand the importance of equipping parents and young people with the skills they need to succeed, I also pursued and attained Parenting & Family and Youth Facilitation certifications through the MLCT. These certifications equip me to uncover aspiring leadership qualities, identify self-image issues, and facilitate career exploratory assessments with youth, and to assess and remediate parenting and family issues.
Since launching my business, I have served multiple ministries, a Fairfax, VA-based nonprofit organization, church small groups, and a Douglas County government agency. I am also the Immediate Past President of Toastmasters of West Georgia and the TMWGA Vice President of Education for 2023-2024.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My career and current journey have not always been smooth. I am still trying to develop strong networks and resources that will help me reach many more people and organizations through my business. Leadership development coaching and training is also a crowded market; however, my niche in parenting & family, and youth development stand out from many.
Also, while a considerable amount of time has passed since I was a military spouse, those years were the most difficult of my lifetime. The life of a military spouse can be daunting, lonely, and sacrificial. For the good of their families, military spouses often give up a part of themselves and career advancement opportunities so their spouses can succeed, and their children can blossom. For these reasons, I am particularly interested in helping and advocating for military families as they make such huge sacrifices for our country.

This course teaches teens how to build good character traits and how to apply those qualities in their everyday interactions. They will also learn to take responsibility for themselves and their actions, express themselves, and handle problems and decisions when they arise.
2. Building A Positive Self-Image
In this interactive training, students are encouraged to identify and appreciate their own unique qualities as well as the uniqueness of others. Participants will leave this training equipped with reinforcement techniques and methods that promote a positive self-image.
3. Youth Impact Exploratory Report/D.I.S.C. Profile Assessment
This assessment will help youth identify their specific personality type and learn ways to maximize their natural strengths to add value to others.
PARENTS AND FAMILIES:
Through a series of comprehensive lessons, I initially facilitate parenting and family assessments, followed by multiple interactive sessions that equip and empower parents, and expand parent and family systems.
Additional workshop offerings include “Parenting on Purpose” and “MENU for Raising Children in the 21st Century”.
