Meet Hailey Hairston of Nakd Beauty Esthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Hairston.

Hailey Hairston

Hi Hailey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m relatively new into my career so I feel like I’m still “getting here”. At 19, I have graduated from esthetician school and become a licensed esthetician and founded my own business. I guess to some that seems fast, but I’ve been planning this business for years, watching and interviewing highly successful women, reading books on motivation and accomplishing goals. I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to be an entrepreneur, never wanted to work for someone, more importantly, my ultimate goal is to be prosperous- to own my own spa/salon which employs estheticians and cosmetologists, providing multiple services in the Woodstock area. I want to have financial freedom by the time I’m 30 years old and I believe that my planning and preparation is the reason Nakd Beauty Esthetics started so strong from the start.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest obstacle for me has been building my business from the ground up. I knew nothing about how to run a business. Many hours of research went into discovering the requirements needed to get established. Starting from scratch was a challenge, and many estheticians go straight into a workplace that is already flourishing. I’ve worked extremely hard to build my brand but I’m not where I want to be yet.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician specializing in eyelash extensions, specifically natural, wispy and textured sets. I only use top-quality glues and lashes so that my clients have great lash retention. While I still have clients that request classic and volume lashes, I also have a clientele who love to try new things. I pride myself on customizing lashes for each individual client because lashes are not one size fits all. I love to create sets that are trendy and unique. I guess the other thing that sets me apart from others is my prices. I offer luxury lashes at affordable prices.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The first piece of advice I can give is to stay focused on goals and set professional and monetary goals and celebrate as you reach them. At my age, there are a lot of “shiny things” to distract you. I have friends who are taking lavish trips and buying gorgeous cars while I choose to work on building my brand and spending my money on marketing and additional education in my field. It’s all about what’s most important, passion and priorities. Another piece of advice would be to get a mentor. You need someone you can trust for honesty and guidance. I am lucky to have a mentor who is very successful as a lash artist and who sincerely wants me to succeed. I can bounce ideas off her and know she has my best interest at heart.
