Today we’d like to introduce you to Chun-Yen Chang.
Hi Chun-Yen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I studied computer science in college. While getting involved with extracurricular activities, I found myself passion in teamwork and creating visual content. The life-changing point for me was a senior performing showcase. I self-taught some 2D visual effects from YouTube and made the showcase video look really cool. I really enjoyed the reaction and applause from the audience. Since then, I started the path to becoming a visual effects artist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The learning path went smooth. My college studies did benefit me to learn more efficiently in visual effects. I’ll say the struggles are mostly to keep in bond with friends and family back home. I really cherish my relationship with others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ll say that I’m a visual effects artist, who specialized in special FX, such as particles, pyro, rigid body dynamic, and vellum cloth. I’m proud of my eager of knowledge and the ability of problem-solving.
Having a different cultural background with my peers and my rebellious nature, driven by a desire to stand out, have set me apart from others.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
As a part of a team, being open-minded with different opinions and ideas from others. Eager to learn and actively seek opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Paying attention to detail.
