Daily Inspiration: Meet Mickey C

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mickey C.

Mickey C

Hi Mickey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there! Well for starters my name is Mickey C, and I am a professional date night planner as well as an elevated experience curator here in Atlanta Georgia. Four years ago I began planning dates for couples lacking the creativity and the additional time to invest in curating unique date night experiences for themselves. My date planning company Its A Date ignited a passion in me that I am forever grateful for. I’ve always been that super detail-oriented friend that overly planned every girl’s trip and every single birthday. I am huge on curating experiences for people that they can never stop talking about vs just throwing something together and calling it a day. I believe that every couple needs romance to have a successful relationship and some men as well as women just need a little bit of help to get there. Some call me the Date Night Doc, or the Date Night Expert, I just consider myself someone who loves romance and thinks every person should experience it in the way I am able to curate it.

I love seeing my client’s faces light up when they walk into a room that I have put together or experienced an amazing date night that my team has facilitated. My business started with date night planning and then grew into luxury birthday dinners/parties, proposals, micro weddings, and now monthly elevated experiences for the city’s most elite singles. Now I happily wear three hats; Date Night Planner, Event Planner, and Elevated Experience Curator. Time, a supportive village, tapping into my purpose, waiting on God, and staying focused are all things that contributed to getting me to where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road on my entrepreneurship journey. Nothing ever worth having comes easy, so I knew when I embarked on this journey, the road would not be made of marble and gold. One of my greatest struggles and pivot points was when Covid arrived, and I must say I definitely panicked because who was going out on physical dates during a pandemic? No one!

So we created Date Night Boxes that were mailed out to our clients on a monthly basis to bring date night experiences right to their doors. The date night box was an absolute hit during the pandemic, but getting to that point wasn’t easy, and the pivot was quite uncomfortable. Now that we are four years in with date night planning and amazing experiences, Mingle is born. Mingle is a monthly series of elevated experiences for the city’s elite singles.

With my Mingle journey being a new one, several obstacles have presented themselves but I count each one as a reason to go harder and think BIGGER each time. I know that there are several obstacles waiting on me as we speak but I love a good challenge. Today is never my tomorrow, and my tomorrow is bright!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most known as an Elevated Experience Curator. I am the Creative Director of Mingle which is a monthly series of elevated experiences for a particular class of people. These people enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, are fans of poetry, Nina Simone, Etta James, and live for a finely curated experience that is all about ELEVATING.

Our First episode of “Measured” An Elevated Mixology Experience just passed and the city is loving the vibe! Our events are private invite-only experiences that require each person to be professionally vetted to determine their value to be in the room. We want only the best for the best and we’ve been delivering nothing but exceptional vibes thus far.

The evening included a 5-course hand-crafted cocktail experience featuring mixology narrations, live music, and elite singles, and housed in a private speakeasy where the ambiance was unmatched. Each guest received the address to the venue the day of and needed a password for entry. Once inside the room, the magic began!

I don’t call myself a matchmaker, but I am definitely a room shaker. I can guarantee a high-value experience, finely curated by me, and will place you in the right room with the right people. The rest is up to my guests. All that I ever ask everyone who attends is that they mingle and measure their connections wisely.

What sets me apart from the rest is my attention to detail as well as my power to deliver. These elevated experiences are like no other in the city. Every single element has intention behind it, every drink, every sound, every artist, and every move made while in the room will be purposeful. When my guests leave, all they can say is “That was such an elevated vibe”, and they are ready for the next one. I am not a promoter, and my goal is not to get people into a room so they can dance on couches, hold bottles next to their heads, and record on their phones all night.

My goal and purpose in life are to provide people like me with exceptionally dope experiences that are not happening anywhere else and allow them to do so while being in a room with vetted like-minded individuals allowing everyone to show up as their most genuine selves. I am targeting the groups of people who don’t come outside because they think every event is the same. The people who come to Mingle events know that every time they enter the room, they will leave with an immense amount of value as far as vibes, a new experience, romantic interests, and friend interests. Connections will be made in these rooms, and that’s why I am here and why I believe that I am different than most.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For sure! I would be super transparent and tell someone just starting our that I wish I would have pursued my purpose sooner. Thinking BIG should have started a lot sooner than it did for me, and thinking that others had to understand my vision for it to make sense was wrong. My advice would be to start now, whatever it may be. Start it now, pursue it heavily, and think BIG.

Never get discouraged when speaking to someone about your vision and it doesn’t make sense to them. Your vision is your own, and if it was supposed to make sense to someone else, then it would’ve been their vision and not yours. You will come across a lot of people who are confused by what it is you are trying to build and that is perfectly fine. You need those people in your ear because they are going to be the voices you replay in your head when it’s time to go harder for what you believe to be true for YOUR VISION.
