Jimmie Jackson

Hi Jimmie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Embracing the Jamaican culture from my stepfather since a young age, entrepreneur and I went to study culinary arts in Atlanta, I began entering in jerk competitions in 2010, and within two years I won 2012 Top Chef at Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival, followed by consistent cook-off honors nationally. Applying my culinary and bartending skills at the esteemed Muss and Turner’s deli, I also launched Jimmie’s Jerk Chicken (JJC), a small Jerk and BBQ seasoning company. My flagship product JJC Jerk Seasonings led to more awards thanks to it showcasing what I calls “American Jerk” fusing Jamaican spices with New American  influences as Well as Using American BBQ techniques in cooking. Staying busy during this pandemic, I continued to expand my brand with catering, pop-up dinners and collaborations with other chefs; You can follow  for upcoming events regularly on my website, Jjcjerk.com and Social Media like www.facebook.com/jjcjerk

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Easy Path? Not for me.
Nothing is easy worth Pursuing.
This journey hasn’t been easy. Luckily the Pop-up Scence and Underground dining has exploded. There has been more Food Writers and Publications Highlighting Talented Chef and thier Pop-ups.
With all small businesses, finding capital to help fund JJC POP-UP has been a big challenge.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
