Today we’d like to introduce you to Tesha Sherie.
Hi Tesha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2015, I started a natural hair journey in the form of locs for spiritual reasons. I wanted to be closer to myself, my roots and what I felt was the best parts of me. On my search for pure and natural haircare, I found nothing! Every hair supply store had hair products filled with toxic, unhealthy ingredients that stagnant the follicles and damaged the scalp and hair more than healed. By early 2017, I began studying herbs, hair growth oils and practicing on my locs. At the beginning of 2018, I began sharing my gifts of haircare essentials with the world and also becoming a Certified Herbalist Specializing in Scalp and Hair Revival.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t. It’s taken alot of long nights of wondering if breaking generational curses is really my calling.
One of the generational curses is being a business owner, working for myself and not letting anyone/anything stop me.
It’s 2023, but it all started back in 2012 watching Solange on B.E.TS sister channel Centric TV. I knew I wanted to create something iconic for us by us. It started out as a fashion blog that took me to NYC and writing for Vibe Vixen and Sister2Sister magazine, that later transitioned as I was transitioning spiritually into an international natural haircare brand. I completely felt like fashion wasn’t fun anymore, and I also didn’t want to seem like a failure because I made a switch but creating is my real calling.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love sharing my handcrafted gifts with the world. I am a Certified Herbalist that specializes in Scalp and Hair Revival. I love seeing how herbs really work for us and what we need. I put alot of love and pride into creating my essentials, from the ingredients to the packaging.
My favorite herbs are Fenugreek and Calendula. I’ve seen my Fenugreek Leave-In Conditioner take ppl who’ve had a bald spot for to peach fuzz in a month…. its literally bundles in a bottle. Calendula is for the whole family. I make my body oil and body butter with it because it heals wounds, soothes eczema, and relieves diaper rash. It’s also can use as an antiseptic.
What sets me apart from other brands is I WILL NOT LOSE respectfully. I really love seeing how my essentials work; it’s me never been about the money.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Having a brand I can call my own and seeing people enjoy something that I created in my kitchen.
