Community Highlights: Meet Sydnie Wainland of Sydnie Ellen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydnie Wainland. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Sydnie Wainland

Sydnie Ellen graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Jewelry Design. Influenced by her upbringing in her family’s metal fabrication business, Sydnie was inspired to create works on a smaller scale. Starting at the age of twelve, Sydnie started working with copper and learning enameling techniques. By the age of fifteen, she started working with fine metals and semi-precious gemstones. Always admiring the jewelry around her, Sydnie strived to create her own style that was effortlessly unique.

Today, Sydnie Ellen strives to create one-of-a-kind collections that evoke strength, confidence, and originality. Often referencing organic forms, her brand vision reflects the delicate yet powerful intricacies found only in nature.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having graduated at the height of the pandemic back in 2020, it has been a bit of a struggle. I had opportunities to work at Tiffany & Co., David Yurman, and others, but the pandemic put a halt on those opportunities. Thankfully, I had a contact who told me about a studio space for rent in the Savannah area and immediately jumped into making my studio come to life. I graduated from college at twenty-one and had thankfully gotten my works into multiple galleries around the area!

Not only did I want to make and sell my works, but I wanted to love what I was doing. This year I created my brand Sydnie Ellen LLC, and am the designer and operator for the brand! I recently launched my website, have created two collections, and am working on a third, and am continuously wanting to learn all there is about jewelry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sydnie Ellen LLC?
Sydnie Ellen LLC launched in January 2023, debuting a brand new website, revamped social media presence, and new designs. Specializing in sterling silver jewelry, Sydnie strives to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Each piece is hand-crafted, hand packed, and guaranteed to always be unique.

Sydnie Ellen’s style evokes strength, confidence, and originality. The techniques used to create all of the jewelry were discovered during a couture class at SCAD during my junior year. These techniques make me feel like I am bending the rules in my practice, and that is something I am very proud of!

My brand is ever-growing! I want readers to know that my work will always have a handmade feel to it and that they are getting quality jewelry. There is also the option to customize any of my pieces or reach out for any custom works as well.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A very random but surprising fact about me is that at the age of five, I was on the cover of a romance novel! The book is called Dr. Wonderful, and I remember going to NYC with my mom, trying on a bunch of different outfits for the shoot, and getting to hang out with the other models on set. It was such an exciting time, and it’s something that I don’t typically tell people because of how random it is!
