Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Goeddeke.
Julie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After I had my son, Watson, I decided I only wanted to use homemade products to clean the house and on our bodies. After talking about my products to my clients, I started selling them in the salon. Goodness Gracious was the first name that came to me because it reminds me of my grandma and I truly feel that everything I make is goodness and gracious. On goodnessgraciousshop on Instagram, my profile photo is of my grandma in her 20’s. It feels like this photo is perfect as the face of goodness gracious also my grandma always says well goodness gracious Julie. I started getting super into astrology and I bought a bunch of books on it. I started making kits based on birthdays. It’s so much fun!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Coming up with a logo, my dear talented friend Melissa Valentine created my logo and my labels. Annie Gordon created the website goodnessgraciousshop.com. Eileen O’Neil created my LLC. Kaylinn Gilstrap took my photos for the website. I believe I struggle with all of this if wasn’t for my friends/clients goodness gracious wouldn’t be what it is today.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Goodness Gracious story. Tell us more about the business.
I make essential oil blends I have 70 different ones. I have an emotional line, astrology line, spiritual line. I also make whipped lotion, bath salts, body scrubs, chapstick, inhalers, incense blends, deodorant, sunscreen. The birthday kits are my top sellers. I read all about the birthday and come up with what I feel is perfect for the person. Birthday kits include a roll on, inhaler, bath salt, crystal, incense and an astrology card made by my super creative friend Ashley Gattis (I want that mountain). I get the sweetest emails saying that the birthday kit was the best gift they have ever received. The roll-ons have crystals, dried flowers and herbs in them. My top seller out of the roll-ons is fuck fear. I am reiki healer, so I make sure to reiki all of my products.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would have to say Instagram has really helped my business grow. My friend, Jen Pastiloff, posted about how much she loved her birthday kit and that was super helpful because she has a ton of followers. I took her manifestation yoga class and I believe that helped me so much with this business. I would say my good luck has been knowing the right people.
