Hi Tory, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, my life was always on the move in a military home. My dad was in the US Army, so we lived in many different places around the world. Moving allowed me to see how different people live, celebrate, and come together. It taught me that every place has its own remarkable story.
In 2006, I moved to Atlanta with a big dream. I wanted to do something that would make a real difference. Atlanta felt like the right place for it. I met a lot of people, listened to their stories, and learned from them. These conversations helped shape my ideas.
By 2018, I was ready to turn my dream into reality. That’s how the Oasis Community Foundation started in Marietta. Today, we are making a difference, not just here but all over Georgia. When I look back, I see a journey full of lessons, challenges, and a lot of support from the community.
For everyone reading this, young or old, I want to share something: No matter where you’re from or what you’ve seen, if you have a dream and work for it, you can make it happen. Every person you meet and every place you visit can be a part of your story. Remember that.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any journey worth taking, the road to establishing the Oasis Community Foundation needed to be more straight and smooth. There were moments when it felt like the path was littered with more bumps and potholes than clear stretches. Times when the challenges seemed so daunting that my dream appeared to be slipping away from my grasp.
However, with every hurdle, there was a lesson to be learned and a strength to be discovered. Some of those challenges tested my resolve to its very core, making me question the viability of my vision. But precisely, those moments of doubt ignited a more profound passion and determination in me. Each obstacle reinforced my belief in the importance of the foundation’s mission and taught me the value of perseverance, adaptability, and resilience.
While the road might have been rough, I see those struggles not as deterrents but as stepping stones. They shaped the journey, molded the foundation’s ethos, and, most importantly, reinforced my belief that with conviction and tenacity, even the most demanding challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth.
So, I’m grateful for that uneven road. It has made me and the Oasis Community Foundation stronger, more empathetic, and laser-focused on our mission to make a difference.

Happiness, for me, is found in both the grand tapestry and the intricate stitches of life. At its core, happiness is derived from connections, achievements, and the joyous milestones of those around me.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey with the Oasis Community Foundation has been forging partnerships with organizations like THCHolistics (https://www.thcholistic.org). Their dedication to wellness aligns seamlessly with our mission, and working with those who share similar passions has enabled Oasis to flourish. It’s a testament to the idea that the impact can be profound when kindred spirits come together for a collective cause.
But as fulfilling as these partnerships are, nothing compares to the happiness that my family brings me. My daughter’s accomplishments as she embarks on her college journey fill my heart with indescribable pride. Simultaneously, witnessing my son’s enthusiasm as he begins his educational path in Kindergarten is a daily reminder of the joys and wonders of life. Their achievements, laughter, growth, and even minor discoveries light up my world in ways I could have never imagined.
Lastly, happiness, for me, is also about seeing others thrive. Every success story, every win, and every moment someone I know achieves something they’ve worked hard for fills me with joy. I have always believed in lifting others and celebrating their victories as my own. There’s a unique joy in being genuinely happy for others, and I’ve found that when we champion and support those around us, our happiness multiplies.
