Daily Inspiration: Meet Christine Black

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Black.

Christine Black

Christine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career in Radio in 2016 in my hometown Birmingham, Alabama as an intern. Before I graduated TSU in 2017, I landed my first job as a Promotions Assistant with 102.9 The Buzz and 102.5 the game, which made me commit and stay in Nashville after graduation. From there, I continued to grow in the entertainment industry, and I am now currently a Radio Personality and Station Manager for Streetz 99.3 in Nashville, TN.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has not been a smooth road, and I still face a lot of challenges today. I had took a break in the industry for about two years due to low pay at corporate jobs and needed financial stability. Working in the entertainment industry is not for the weak because you do a lot of freelance work to get in the doors and the rooms you need to grow. This field is all about networking to get you to the place you want to go. Our network is our net worth. The more people we meet in this industry the better chances you get for more opportunities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Radio Personality, Host, and Writer. As a multimedia journalist, I also attend events around the US for media coverage and red-carpet interviews. I have interviewed A-List and B-List celebrities, local artists, and business owners. Also, I host events such as Fashion Show, Intimate Concerts, Concerts, and more. I have been featured on Zeus Network, TV One, Revolt TV, Emmys, and Lifetime. I am known for doing interviews with celebrities, independent artists, and business owners. I am really proud this year, I was able to travel to Los Angeles (BET Awards), Cincinnati, Ohio (Black History Music Honors), Houston, Texas (Summer Jam Festival), Louisville, KY (Funk Festival), and Atlanta for multiple movie premiers. It has been a great journey, and I am excited for more opportunities.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
The definition of success to me means being able to achieve your dream no matter the challenges and keep pushing until you reach the goal you want to accomplish. Success also means happiness. If you are not happy about your day-to-day life, you will not feel successful in what you do every day. Having happiness helps you be successful and helps you strive for the best every day.
