Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Fong.
Hi Nicholas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey into wedding photography while in my last year in the Navy. One of my closest friends asked me to photograph their wedding. That wedding led to a few more the next year. And through the past 5 years and +200 weddings, that’s when I realized several hundred people have taken the chance on me since then! I’m so ever grateful to be able to give this amazing art of noticing moments to all of the lovely people who’ve reached out to me for my work. And I’m always seeking the next adventure.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve definitely made my fair share of mistakes when I started photographing professionally. Forgetting the camera lens cap was right as I said the infamous “Cheese!” You name it. I think the biggest one that I’m proud of conquering was my fear of meeting so many new strangers. I did a personal project where I went around Atlanta, California, and places I traveled to like the Islands of Hawaii and the Caribbean, and took pictures of strangers and listened to their stories. It was different and definitely sketchy at times, which is why I 100% recommend doing it (safely of course) for any newer photographers who understand that pressing the shutter is half the battle. You have to be able to capture, communicate, and listen to your subject if you want to get the best pictures.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a fine art wedding photographer with a background in photojournalistic coverage for sentimental wedding couples at heart. My business, Nick Francis Weddings, specializes in photo and video coverage for Atlanta and destination wedding events and editorial commercial work.
With the unique artistry of evocative film photographs and same-day artistic wedding prints, Nick Francis Weddings draws over five years and +200 weddings, honoring and preserving the treasured heritage of every loving couple’s exciting celebration.
Our goal is simple – To help you relive your story through the moments that remind you of the love you share with each other.
The approach is based on preserving the authenticity of your celebration and curating imagery that takes you back to a place where you are loved. Photographing life’s vividly breathing and fast-paced, once-in-a-lifetime moments is one of the most sentimental gifts I’m proud to have helped with hundreds of couples that have invested in my work.
Every wedding is unique, and the role of a photographer carries a tremendous amount of responsibility – planning, guidance, and responsive communication. Choosing a photographer people not only trust to guide them but enjoy being with is essential. For this reason, all of my current wedding couples started their journey by connecting with me through a call or in person. I love meeting new people and helping commemorate their stories, so I’m excited to work with everyone’s vision for their wedding celebration!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The biggest credit I have to give is to all of my family, friends, and loved ones. Just like most people, all of my picture-taking would not by anything if it had not started with them.
I also want to give special thanks to KT Merry, Jose Villa, and Two Mann, as they are hands down, the top 3 inspirations I’ve learned from that inspire a lot of how I capture a wedding day!
