Adrienne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been giving, welcoming, bubbly, and nice. I have been in the hospitality industry for over ten years, and that also aided to my love for giving.
I created Gifts By Drie Because my sister always told me that I should start a gift-giving consulting business because she used to always come to me for gift suggestions. On top of being good at coming up with gifting ideas… As stated previously, I love giving!! (gifts, time, attention, hugs, conversations, good energy, encouragement, hope, help, faith, belief, support, inspiration, opportunities, advice, a listening ear…. giving is what does it for me).
My dream is to have a global gifting business where people can purchase different tier gifts or subscribe for monthly gifts. This will be offered for all occasions and holidays.
Alot of people don’t have the time, know-how or forget to celebrate/ gift their loved ones and friends and that is where Gifts By Drie comes in. I have a consultation with the client, they tell me about the person they want to gift, and I put together and ship to them a gift box that brings the kid out of them and makes them all giddy inside. Imagine opening up a box with all of your favorites, AMAZING RIGHT?!
I am still in the start-up phase so any suggestions, help, collaborations are welcome. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting this business has not been easy. As someone who has never started a business on her own, I was out of my element FOR SURE!
From researching different vendors to see what Inventory and packaging to use and be different from the competitors. To figure out how to launch my products/ services (still figuring that part out). To having a logo created, color scheme, and pricing of what items should be in order to make a profit.
Since I am still in the beginning phase all but 1 recipient of Gifts By Drie have been gifted boxes for free for marketing and feedback purposes. To date 20 people have experienced Gifts By Drie and only 1 was a paid customer BUT THAT IS OKAY, we all have to start somewhere, right?
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Gifts By Drie provides personalized gifting services where we send gifts ordered by you straight to the recipient’s door. The goal is to provide the customer with gifts wanted, needed and that brings the kid out in them. The best feeling is seeing an adult get so excited that they can’t contain themselves because they love their gift so much!
Gifts by Drie can also help give you a little push. If you have an idea of what a person may like but just need help bringing it all together, we do consultations as well via email. We are here to help you gift others and yourself– We all deserve self-love.
Gifts By Drie is so dear to my heart because it is based around making others happy. My proudest moment within Gifts By Drie thus far is being able to give back. I have lived in Georgia going on seven years now, however I am originally from Lake Gaston, NC.
Last December, I saw an ad for being a Secret Santa for a family in need by collaborating with USPS. My fiancé convinced me to do my own and make a difference where I come from and to be able to actually KNOW and SEE the joy of the family being helped.
December 2022 Gifts By Drie Christmas Secret Santa Give Away was initiated. Collectively Gifts By Drie & 9 individuals/ business owners sponsored a family of 5.5. Three kids (the youngest was three who had been in remission from cancer basically since birth and another baby on the way).
Each kid was assigned three sponsors, and one sponsor was assigned to the newborn. Also, my cousin was so inspired that she decided to raise $250 to help with medical bills and gas to and from the cancer center. The family was very grateful, and the kids had an amazing Christmas.
Being able to give back and help a family in need was the greatest Christmas gift and accomplishment I felt since having my daughter Nia two years ago.
Gifts By Drie Christmas Secret Santa Give Away 2023 is underway and I am excited to see who we can bless this year. Even when you feel that you can’t do something or don’t know exactly what to do to help, just think about others and look at your surroundings, and see what is needed… you will be surprised of how many non-tangible things people need and all it costs you sometimes is time and energy.
