Today we’d like to introduce you to Artinka Teaira.
Hi Artinka, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started singing at the age of nine. I took my singing career seriously about six years ago. Life happened, and it made me realize that time here is limited; why not go after my dreams ya know? I started working with an engineer named Sam Osborne, an engineer over at Lava Room Recording. My first professionally recorded song was titled “No Face, No Case”. It did numbers! I was overly excited, and since then, it’s been UP and stuck! Music is my first love, without it Idk where I’d be in life!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle was being a plus-size female in the beginning….It took time to build my confidence to where it needed to be. I used to stray away from pictures, videos and even strayed away from dressing up. It took a lot of self-love and removing a lot of people from around me in order for me to own the fact that I had talent and no matter how big or small I was that didn’t matter. I vowed to myself that anytime I stepped out, I was going to turn up! And that I DID! Once they allowed me to look in the mirror and see how beautiful I was – there was nothing that was going to stand in my way of going after my dreams!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an LPN, a Licensed Practical Nurse, and have been one for almost six years. I’m soon to be an RN. I wear my title proudly. My specialty is healing those around me. Music allows me to heal others through song and Nursing allows me to heal others through medical care. I enjoy my career working with the geriatric community. I couldn’t ask for a better career. It’s rewarding to be able to help those in need. I’m proud to be able to care for the parents of those that can’t. It brings me ALOT of joy to smile and joke with my residents.
