Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauri Pierce.
Hi Lauri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My true passion and life calling has always been helping others. From a young age I knew that I would cultivate this passion and transform my path into a meaningful career. The decision to obtain a BA Degree and later a Masters Degree in Social Work was an easy decision. Early in my career, I established myself professionally working in community mental health both in the non profit and private sectors. Having the opportunity to work with and help children, adults and families in their often most desperate and debilitating situations created my vision for one day starting my own company – HWS Best Health.
At HWS Best Health (Health and Wellness Services) we bring hope to healing. From my personal and professionally journey, including 25 years of self reflection, personal growth and mistakes along the way HWS was established in 2019. With the support of my husband and business partner Jeffrey, my parents, wonderful children and step children, friends, mentors and colleagues I established a counseling practice that is convenient and available to all regardless of who you are and where you come from.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With age comes grace and self-reflection, self-reflection is an important and ongoing process in running a successful business. Some of the obstacles that I have encountered along the way cross personal and professional territories.
From a personal perspective I have been challenged to wear multiple hats; that of a mom, a Wife, a daughter and a professional – often never having enough time. I was involved in an unhealthy and abusive marriage, which was embarrassing to talk about as “counselors” should know better. My older sister Lillie suffered with her own mental health and alcoholism my entire childhood. She passed away ten years ago, leaving me with an even stronger desire and passion to help others.
From a professional perspective it is a challenge to meet the growing demands of the need for quality and comprehensive mental health care. We are constantly evaluating what we are offering our clients so that they continue to receive the best of the best.

At HWS Best Health we offer mental health care to children, adults and families. Our services include case management, counseling and medication management. We accept all Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. Our services are provided via telehealth, in schools, in clients homes or our Canton Oh office.

I attended Catholic School from K – 12. In 3rd grade I felt that I had a calling to be a nun, this changed when I discovered boys. For those that know me well, I am the most non nun like person you may ever meet.
