Today we’d like to introduce you to Antwon Smith.
Hi Antwon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in the podcast world back in 2014 with an idea from a long-time friend of mine. I worked on blogtalkradio.com for about four years learning the basics of podcasting, while also writing on Sportsblog.com. The Smitty’s Sports Machine name came about and started to grow in 2016 through my Facebook fan page of the same name. I then started to apply my skills to YouTube in 2019 to put a face to my work. Fast forward to 2023, I have nearly 10,000 followers on YouTube and 12,000 on my Facebook fan page.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the only struggles I’ve had in life is my health, but as for podcasting the fans and followers made it easier as time passed. I was timid when I first started but now I can talk for hours at a time, without hesitation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Podcasting is not work because I love what I do; I am most proud of being able to grow as a person and having found lifelong friends along the way. I’m known by my friends as a strong and reliable person because once I focus on my task is locked in I’m working to finish a task the best I can.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is finding your purpose in the world no matter how long it takes. I didn’t have a dream of podcasting, it was a God send, meaning I fell into my purpose. Success can be defined in so many ways, but finding purpose is true success.
