Jay Pearson

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Stone Mountain and my entire life, I watched my dad be an entrepreneur. It was a lane that I thought would be the easier route for me; however, it came with many twists and turns that ultimately led me to SynXGlobal. Primerica was my first entrepreneurial step as an independent financial advisor. I was able to receive all of my licenses and was the youngest to reach many milestones in the company. Right when I believed I had reached the top and found a stable grounding for my family and I, my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. The next few years were the hardest I’ve endured as I balanced taking care of her my kids and trying to also provide for them.

When she made it through to a place where the cancer was no longer growing and spreading, we began to get back to a place of normalcy. I started back with Primerica, but this time, I no longer felt as fulfilled. Watching our family fight and endure created a newfound purpose in me, and I knew that I needed to discover what that was. As I began this new journey, my wife decided that she wanted a divorce. This was an obstacle that I wasn’t expecting, but it did lead me to discover the area that I am now in which is the driver management business. Upon trying to discover myself after my divorce and what was next, I stumbled across a fleet of trucks that I was asked to manage and run. This business provided me with the logistical skills and knowledge necessary to create SynXGlobal’s business model.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not. I have had my fair share of trials and obstacles, and although I tend to have a mindset of endurance, there have been a few occasions that have been particularly tough. Without telling my whole life story, I became a real estate agent in 2006, and as I was just getting started, the mortgage meltdown in 2007 and recession in 2008 took place. I was newly married, and my wife and I had one daughter and one on the way. This of course, affected us tremendously, and that is actually when I began exploring the transportation industry. I became more knowledgeable of the industry, and that stepping stone is how I ended up here. The second trial would be when my wife got the news that she had stage 4 lymphoma cancer. At the time of the diagnosis, We had four kids and I did not know what would happen.

As her cancer progressively worsened, as a father and husband I was overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions not just for me, but also for my kids and wife. I’m thankful that our families stepped up to help with our kids during hospital stays and treatments. This was a three-year battle and it was a great feeling to get over the hurdle, only for the last hurdle to hit harder. My wife wanted a divorce. 2020 my wife shocked me with the news of wanting a divorce and I went from feeling as if I was living the American dream to being unsure what would happen next. It was during that time that I got back heavily involved into the trucking industry and through that built up my first successful business. That business ended up being a piece of the foundation for SynXGlobal. Through it all, I’ve learned that each obstacle and trial brought me close to doing what I was destined to do.

As you know, we’re big fans of SynXGlobal Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At SynXGlobal, our mission is to revolutionize the logistics industry by fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) as the standard. As a certified minority tier 1 (CMT1) supplier and major minority corporation, we are committed to empowering minority carriers while offering robust, end-to-end transportation and warehousing services. Our dedication lies in providing exceptional support, innovative solutions, and a network of opportunities that enable carriers, employees, and drivers to thrive in an inclusive and supportive environment. By reimagining traditional business models and focusing on diversity, excellence, and community, we aim to be the preferred diversity solution, breaking down barriers and driving positive change in the transportation sector for the prosperity and success of all.

We’re most proud of the ability to provide minority drivers with the income, knowledge, and resources that they desperately need in order to succeed in this industry. Drivers spend most of their lives on the roads to provide us with the necessary items we need to live. However, for many minorities they are at a disadvantage due to their limitations on getting equipment, loads, and opportunities to scale and grow. We help them manage their business so they are able to receive all of that and more.

SynXGlobal isn’t just for drivers; it’s for the community. We understand that there are many industries where minorities are at a disadvantage, and we look forward to expanding in those industries soon.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by being able to spend my days with my children and watching them achieve all of their dreams. Being able to provide for their every need and desire while watching them grow into their individual beings. I also define success by the amount of people who are able to receive a positive change in their lives by what we’re doing through SynXGlobal. Many drivers and their families will now have the ability to spend quality time together without fear or not having enough money to pay their bills. Employees will thrive in the culture we create and have opportunities with their families to grow. We focus on a healthy work-life balance. Success for SynXGlobal is allowing individuals to create the image they desire for their life and providing them just that. We are nothing without the individuals around us, so success is giving them back tenfold.
